Ragnarok's Final Fantasy Open RPG 2
A decision has been made by me, -Ragnarok-. It is time to take the Warcraft RPG stuff to the next line. I will be the processor of such an event, with the help of a few friends. Final Fantasy Open RPG 2 is and RPG like never before. The gaming experience brought to you by this map will change your expectations of a true Warcraft Map Forever. Not Another RPG Please.... Ordinary RPG's tend to get boring, that is why I've decided to make this map. The RPG's you see normally introduce you to absolutely nothing new. As I started this project I brought many ideas into my head. A have a few that are going to be used. Like a skills system, custom models (TY to HexenLordX). As time flows the map will get updated once or so every month. Not normal updates. I mean I will be making whole new maps to play on, creating new opponents, new unlockable features, bonus material, tweaking the Mult-Board, Balancing units, removing shit, reducing Map Size, Releasing LAN versions, EtC. Too much to count. Why did you decide to do this? I have more than 2 years of mapping skills and I've been debating whether or not to use them. I've decided to release a UBER map once every year. This time every year I will work on heavily on a map. Then I will retire for about a year and just help others with their maps, then I will work on my map once again. So far I've always wanted to create a RPG. And I could not find out what to base it on. After FFORPG I knew What I wanted. A new FFO, one thats not so unlcean and cheap, with a character like Sephiroth. Also I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy Series. Screenshots? I want Screenshots! Screen Shots are attached to this Reply, there will be more from time to time from the features I add. Tell me more please... There will be a Limit Break system. Everytime you get hurt you will gain some LB% (Limit Break Percent). It will take 2% of your damage and add it to the LB%. Once it's add 100 you will be able to use your Limit Break. Limit Breaks belong to each character. If it's a Final Fantasy 10 character, or nine, you can call it Dyne, Trance, Overdrive. I really don't care, I'm just going to stick to Limit Break. Limit Breaks are when a character is in danger, he has an ability that is a hella lot stronger than anything else he can use. This ability has potential to save his life from enemy units. Anything Else I should Know? Quite a lot I'm afraid. I'm going to be using the Materia System for magic. Just click on the materia and target an enemy. Walla! Magic! There's different classes you can pick from. First you pick your starting character. Cloud Strife, Zidane, Tidus, Etc. Then you buy a Job Sphere and use it. You can become a Warrior, Onion, Ranger, Dark Knight, Paladin, much much more. They all have their unique Characteristics and Item Sets. There are different Craft Skills. You can use weaponsmithy, armorsmithy, tailoring, alchemy. Each 1 is a pretty useful skill to have. Your skill will increase till it hits 100%, and the higher it is, the higher chance you will succeed in crafting an item. There are many different Types of Materials to craft from as well. You must mine some ore, smelt it, then it can finally be used. Summons will also be added for summoners. They will be quite powerful as well. What if I die One of your items will drop from your inventory, 1 random item. Unless you have an item called a Item Guard. This will be dropped instead of one of your valuables. You will also lose a small fraction ofyour experience, 5%. Inventory Your will have two inventories. 2 Pages that is. You will switch from one page to another using an item called Next Page. One part of your inventory is recomended for holding Ore, Ingots, Tools, anything your not needing for combat. Saving You can save 5 times a game, and can only repick your character once. Plain and simple, make sure you pick what you want... Quests Quests will reset when you leave the game and join another game. There are side quests leading to great items, and Main quests leading through the story and up to the Last Boss, which will be EXTREMELY HARD. But other enemies such as Omega Weapon being even harder than the last Boss. It may take up to 3 hours of game time to get to the last boss through all the quests. Be forewarned. What about the Anti Cheats? A custom very simple system which is designed by me was added to the map. It's based off of FFO's system. There are no longer any MORBS, they are what made it possible to cheat in the first place. If you have an item for 30 Seconds it becomes yours. Only Load once can't repick. This system is almost flawless, and your code will only work for you Battle Net Name. So those ass holes that cheat and dupe items.... Are No more... The Beta Test Beta tests will be private tests. I am going to open up a Seperate thread in a month or so to pick who Beta Tests. You'd better be expecting to give some information such as, how much time you could play each day. It is ok if your around 14 years old. As long as when you get out of school you jump on Warcraft and be ready to play. They will only be one hour Beta Tests each day. You can play the map by yourself too. I am only 16 years old and I want to get good grades as most of you all should. The beta test map will be a private map for you and all the other testers. You will have ann assigned spot with your name in it. EX: Only a guy with the account name RagnarokFF7 can be in Player Spot 1 (RED). I also like a good personality, and I like people with patience. I will leave the game up from 5:00 to 5:30. And if your not in there yet then the people who have showed up will be playing. Also If you live in a different time zone Then we will bend the times of the beta tests to cope with the times you can make it. |

A final fantasy open RPG sounds kinda tough. Good luck making it. It'll be hard to make something original but still be able to call it Final Fantasy. |

Hmm guys, does anyone have any character sugestions? I want to do Cloud Strife as he is my favorite FF Char ever but its hard to find models for Final Fantasy Characters, the only one is the Sephiroth one and it sucks. |

Yes I know, I'm working on a new skin right now. As for animations.. I'm not a very good animator, so they'll probably be a little screwy. I'll try and give an updated screenshot as soon as I can. |

the animations arent a real big deal at this point, finding any final fantasy 7 models is great enough, thanks ^_^ |

A few ideas for your RPG. First, it shouldnt be open, they tend to get boring after awhile. You should make FF7 all over again for tft. Include the battle system and everything, it would have to be a multi-player campaign though, so it could be difficult. I'm not trying to dis your map or nething, its just, there are SO many open rpgs lately, and they arent even that cool. |

Your wrong. You may say they get boring because there's nothing left to do. Let's say you play FFORPG. You start, create a char, pick your class, and for the remainder of your map play, you level up and get items. That's it. That's probably the most played open rpg on b.net right now, but it does tend to get boring. The addition of Sephiroth in the newer versions brought back the gameplay a little bit, but one minor addition won't keep it going. This is why you say they are boring. You know as well as I do that features can be added to keep gameplay going. Lets look at a few maps. Dark Deeds, people keep playing to get higher points and get the unlockables. Night of the Dead II, people play to open up new ranks, you may not think this is a big accomplishment, but its amazing how you can join a game and see a higher rank, and see how many people will follow their every move. Maps like these can stay alive for quite some time, due to the fact that there is a reason to keep you playing besides just to level up. I'm sure that Ragnarok could find something to stir up this game. Make unlockable bosses, secret items, rewards for playing so much, something like that. Ragnarok.. since this has been brought to my attention, if I have any free time from working on my "OPEN RPG", I'll gladly help you. |

Thats true...but Dark Deeds isnt really an open rpg -.- However, i guess you're partially right on the secrets and stuff, but dont let sephiroth in, he should be the boss. And as for secret items, im leaning towards the uber weapons (ultima sword and the like.) Think that would be do-able? |
| 07-19-2004, 08:09 PM | #12 |
my stupid computer broke but its fixed now. Anyways yeah I realized this same thing too, sephiroth wouldbe a better boss, and its going to be FF7, 9, 10, 10-2. Unlockables is always a must, characters, bosses, areas. And yes the hard to get and very powerful weapons are Ultima Weapon, Excalibur, Excalibur 2, Apocalypse, Ragnarok, Masamune, any other ideas appreciated. It will feature some custom usic as soon as a figure out how to get custom music that will make the map size increase 3000KB. I've been looking for some small MIDI files cant find any that suit that final fantasy taste im looking for. HexenLord any help would be greatly appreciated, I do realize your very busy with the DBZ RPG. ^_^ |
