dudes, I've got modded mpqs [1.15 tft, with war3patch.mpq], with each race having a special ability: that is, elves are invisible, undead all have vampiric attack, humans have poison weapons and orcs have Asod. BUT... In 1.13, I used to be able to make maps with my modified units, but now, I'm still able to see the modified units in the editor: just when I save the map, the units somehow become original warcraft 3 units... my 1337 shockwaving butcher turns back into the boring old abomination, my terrifying grunt hordes with Devour Magic and spawn skeleton on death turn back into regular grunts. Any insights into WHY this might be happening, if not a solution? Also, how would I go about changing my hero level limit - TC style? that is, which data file would i edit, and where should i edit? i don't want my changes to be level-specific, because i suck at mapping. I just can't be fucked making all the terrain and doodads and stuff... :D |

Scenario>Map Options>Game Data Set Make sure this is set to custom. TFT 1.15 added this so that you could easily revert to RoC armour and units for maps. What it does is control whether the tft patch mpq is loaded with the map (i think). |

are you beign sarcastic? or are u just a moron, use the standard world editor to give units abilities/MAKE YOUR OWN abilities u fool, editing the mpq is no longer necesary in most cases |

yes use the world editor, for its much easier. |

This IS the world editor. The v1.15 WE will OVERWRITE ALL OF YOUR UNIT/ABILITY settings if you make it a melee map and do not set this setting. |

still, is it possible at all to edit the hero level limit in the game data files? i've looked through the SLKs, the .Js, and the scripts - I can't seem to find it! The thing is, I don't want to modify all the MAPS - but i think it's within my abilities and constraints to modify AbilityData and UnitAbilities to suit level-20 or so max hero levels... if i could, it would r0xx0r ... any ideas?cheers, 'tek |

Advanced>Gamestants>Hero max level Ability levels can also be adjusted here. |

right... now that i've fixed the problem... the limits can be changed in Units\MiscGame.txt, for anyone who's interested. It seems to allow for high-level heroes, BUT, for example, for lvl 15 heroes, all heroes must have Aamk and all AbilityData.slk must be modified to pump up all normal hero abilities to four-level ones - this is going to take a while, but the results will 0wn... just my two cents :D |
