Hello, i decided to make a waterfall tuturial for my friend (Lord_duke). he went all crazy saying i should post it, so i'm doing that here.

I could go and post stepwise what you should do, but i think i'd better post the map in it's whole.

One thing, to get the effect shown in step 2, just lower the cliff between the high and the low water.

Oh P.S, perhaps a mod could sticky this if liked, could be handy for newbie terrainers. i'm planning to do at least a few more tuturials as well anyway.

Oh shaddap you.

Some tips handy for newbies as well:

Viewing in the world editor
You might see people scrolling in some screenshots. sounds hard but it's in fact very easy to do. just hold the right control button, press the right mouse button and scroll around. you can also zoom in and out using your mouswheel. if you want to return to normal view, press "left control+left shift+C".

Screenshots
These as well seem pretty hard, though are easy once again. just scroll into the wished position, and press the print screen button top right of your keyboard. it'l notify you a screenshot is taken by the message "Screen captured". the screenshot will now be in your warcraft directory in a map named "Screenshots". this works both in-game and in the world editor. if you want to cut away borders go and download Irfanview and use it to open your screenshot. select the part you want to KEEP (so that'l be the all exept the border), and use edit-crop selection. then all thats left is posting your image here. you can either use the attachment option here, or you can choose to post it in the post. to do this, go and find a good imagehost (Photobucket or Imageshack for example), and upload your picture there. then when posting, click the "image" option, and insert the link. thats all.

More later folks!

City tutorial

1. Plan your city. not necessarily on paper, as said in another tread, but in your mind is fine as well. just make sure it has a bit of logics in the building.

2. Add in houses, 1 or 2 big (important) buildings, gardens, town squares, and adjust streets if neccessary.

3. finishing touch. add in the trees in the gardens, those for decoration, place benches, fountains, shrub... anything to finish the stuff up.

Moza's tips:
1. try keeping things symmetrical; same trees at 1 spot, same street lengths.
2. Cathedrals with fountains in the corner work out good using specific tilesets.

Alright thats all for now, here's the map that comes with this tutorial:

EDIT: more are coming up. Lord_Duke requested this one and "asked" for the waterfall one. i'l be posting more later.
