Hey everyone. I'm fairly new here, and I find this community very talented and a good overall community. That said, let me explain my idea. I have a b.net map in mind that I have already mostly planned out. It's called Master of Planets. If anyone has ever played Master of Orion I or II (standalone games, not WC3 maps) it will be very similar. Basically, the map is based on colonizing planets, diplomacy, and spaceship battles (think civilization in space). I am hoping that this map can be very high quality and planned out. What I need for this project is: •Modellers/skinners (I'd like custom ships) •Expert Triggerers (however I will also do triggering) I only need triggerers for the more complicated things. I already have concept art for the ships, and the map is mostly planned out. Team members will have some say in how the map works. I can do everything else. If anyone is interested, post here or PM me. The only requirement is AIM. I'd like to make this map as high-quality as possible. Something that is rare these days in b.net maps. I hope I can get some of you guys, and I look forward to working with you. |

If you want it to be for b.net keep in mind there is a 4mb map cap. I can model mechanical stuff pretty good, and I could make a couple models on request... |

The idea isn't bad, but it has been tried several times before, and most failed. There were some succeses if I recall. Since the idea isn't too hard, I'm not going to stop anyone from making it. My own comments on it won't be too positive, but that's only because it is a fact I have a small grudge against space games/movies/projects/etc. Anyway... The only problem that might occur is the file size because of the large amount of custom models. I hope you will be able to find a solution for it. All in all, it is nice to see someone looking forward to work with people ;) Good luck -Fladian |

Sounds interesting, also I do agree with Fladian in that it has a nice chance of being too large with all the necessity in altering the map to fit the 'space' theme. I can't even fathom how you could make it so that you could feature several planets and outerspace in a warcrat map...although when I think about it, with the custom tiles and doodads, it would be a very interesting and exciting map to work on. Do you have a good terrainer? If not, you may want to get one, because a map like this definetely requires some decent terraining work. I can terrain, though I'm kind of swamped at the moment with other maps... Another thing, if you find that having to compress the map because of the file limitation and not being able to bring out the full potential of the map because of that, you may want to incorporate a storyline and make it into a single player campaign instead. Just a thought. -Sentinel |

Thanks for volunteering, those who did. I agree about the file size, and I only plan on having models for about 3-5 ship types. And think of it this way: Geometric shapes, so less polys, and spaceships would only REQUIRE like 3-4 animations. I look forward to working with you guys. Those who are interested, please post AIM/e-mail so I can get in contact with you and get started. Thanks again for volunteering! |
