Hi everyone. It's been a while since the FPS Mod has shown any activity since the release of the "SDK" back in January. We will mostly agree that the SDK was a half-baked effort and was useless for most. I would like to present to all of you, the fruits of this seemingly useless SDK. Some of you may have heard me talking about the Blademaster Mod created by Ant. The Blademaster Mod is the first and only COMPLETED project based off of the FPS Mod. It consists of 16 substantial maps and a training mission. And this was completed BY A SINGLE PERSON using an engine that wouldn't even work in its original form. ![]() (Click to view larger image) Essentially, the Blademaster Mod lets you control a Blademaster using a Mario 64/Zelda 64 style 3rd person view. You sneak around fulfilling objectives while you hack away at enemies using standard slashes or special combos. It's very fun and everyone who has played it so far has loved it. Give the Blademaster Mod a try. If you like it, please thank Ant for his perseverance and undying dedication to this mod. To make things much easier for you, the FPS Mod has been completely repackaged with new materials including a new HTML-based instruction manual written by me. ---------------------------- Instructions: Requirements: Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Decent computer that meets or exceeds recommended settings 1) Download the FPS Mod. The package contains everything you need including the Blademaster Mod. Unzip it under the your Maps directory. 2) Read this to get started immediately. Just read the section called "Getting Started." It's included with the package too. 3) Have fun and play the map! ---------------------------- If you experience any problems running the Blademaster Mod, please feel free to ask me here. Do not PM me about it. Again, please thank Ant for all of his hard work. Thanks! |

This is awesome, I'm gonna try it out right away! VERY nice work for that creator! Dre PS: does it matter where you unzip what? |
| 07-16-2004, 11:43 AM | #5 |
To Dre: It shouldn't matter, but just put them all in the same folder in the maps folder for organisation. I also got the help of Zeven90 for the model (since I have no modelling software) and OF COURSE I needed to use the FPS mod SDK, which allowed me to make use of the third person cam so that the terrain didn't need to be too bad, so I guess that's how I managed to make it. And of course Ganon making things so much simpler to download and use. I really have to thank him. I'll be working on a sequel-type thing soon with hopefully more combos and much less maps (it's too many maps I think) once there's time in my life. And yes, Give BM Mod a try! |

Looks like it would be alot of fun... Unfortunately, it lagged so much that I couldn't even fight the crappy gnoll on the training level. :\ Not sure what the cause of the lag is, probably the FPS Control Program, as my 900 mhz Athlon Thunderbird can more then handle War3 most of the time. I'm gonna try one more time and see if I can get it to run better. |

You went through the process outlined in the Getting Started section right? I've been a lot more successful using TSearch to find the memory rather than using Stoned's program to do this. |
