while playing WC Single Player some of the town layouts look really cool.. trying to mimic htem though is a problem.. For example during the human campaign (ROC) you have a beautiful town layout.. tall skinny buildings and all.. but i am having a problem making them tall skinny buildings of 50 differnt sizes =P.. is there anywhere i can go to geth elp or anyone here to help me make a nice size city to be placed infront of my lovly castle? For all who been keeping track on my map - i am placing a village infront of it and 5 starting points per thief. each from differnt areas in town.. each thief has to sneak through town. to the castle.. into the castle get the goods.. then back out the castle. through the town. to there hideout.. town will have lamp post which are breakable and repairable. also a few shops |

To make it more even, I would suggest making two sides of the town, both fairly symmetric. To make different scales of buildings, just change the min and max scale of the Building doodad (for the tall and very small ones), and the min and max scale of each of the other building doodads. Make sure random scale is on, and the editor does the rest. Sometimes, if you make the max scale too big (usually over 4), the buildings will end up huge, so try no more than 4 as the max. If it's a village, I suggest using the cobble path for the roads and outlining it with a similar tile, like the rock pathway. Make sure to put in a few parks and areas with water, to keep the place lively. Also, if it won't conflict with anything, make a few villagers with the Wander ability. Perhaps some sheep and other animals too. A still city is just no fun, so make sure there are interesting places, like a park centered around a fountain. Big shade trees also help. I'm not the best at making cities either, but if you need any help, I'd be glad to offer my services. |

Ok. Glad I could help. If you want to place just the tall and skinny buildings, try making a custom doodad with the model of Building <Insert Variation Here>. There are only like 3 variations, so shouldn't be too hard. Good luck with your map, anyhow. |

I've been using WEU too long to remember how it looks in WE, but i suspect that you ened to set the variations of the building doodads. Just double click them and click the dropdown for variations. |

yea i see it.. apparently its only destructable items.. structures cant be edited Thank you once again TH!5 and everyone else who helped me on this =D Ok i quickly correct myself.. you have to change the range of the building scale to get it to work =P then once you do that you double click it and it gives you X Y Z and you can adjust it from there.. Thank you =D |

ok another question to add on to it.. what would be the most effective way to make it so the player cant wlak through the building? path blockers? cause to make them mash together to look more of a city block look i had to -pathing so they are walkable through |

ok here is what i have so far: the problem i have with this is is ALOT of doodads right there ALONE you see 80 and thats like a 5th of the town.. the minimap shows how much (note that is my castle above =D i will show SS of that later imy questions now.. will about 600 doodads for town lag the total map.. and anyone know a creative way to shrink it down |

ummm.. to tell you the truth if you are going for a thief map, thats not very much... think of it this way. the max amount of doodads is something like 6000 and if you want a really detailed map that area alone could have like 300 |

Instead of setting the doodads' collisions to zero in order to place them close together, try holding down Shift when you place them. I believe this makes it ignore collision while placing objects, but they'll still have the collision in-game. And yea, using pathing blockers is a good way to shore up holes in your "wall of houses". If you go to View>Pathing - Ground [sic] it will show you what areas can still be gotten through. |

hmm ok ill try that.. my main concern is lag issue i dont want a laggy map.. but i want a good one.. as for the doodad count for that area.. there is going to be more htere.. i still have to place the light post. and a few other items.. also gotta pick a spot for the thief guild (1/5) in each general area of the towns. Thank you for hte info and ill work on it more later and show whati got =D |
