Hi, - Just made a blank map and made a trigger so when red types -hi it displays the number 1 * intx where intx is an int varable set to 2. I tested the map and i (playing as player 1 red) typed -hi and it displayed 2 like it should. then i opened up my trusty mpq editor and opened up the war3map.j file and found the trigger in jass and changed the line so that it would display 5 instead of two. I tryed playing the map and, Error Corrupted File: war3map.j So, I want to know: 1.) How am I sopose to edit the war3map.j file? 2.) Why does changing it set it as corrupted? I know my jass syntax is correct, i've tryed this on multiple test maps also. - Thanks for any help. *edit: war3map.j is the jass file thats why this is in the jass forum. |

You edit warmap.j using a text editor as I'm sure you were doing. If you are 100% sure you made no mistake editing it (doesn't sound like you made a mistake), it should work fine. I noticed if you use WinMPQ and you drag a file into the MPQ archive, it gets corrupted. You need to use the "Add" button. |

is there another editor i can use or whats happening...? the file size also changes of the map by around 100kb which is odd. edit: ladik's editor can't even extract the war3map.j file from the map, has no problem adding files though - i get the error code 5 when i try to extract anything from the mpq the map works as ive tested it, its only when i edit the war3map.j file that i get the corrupted message. :( more edits: upgraded to latest version of ladik's and it still couldent extract _anything_ always get that error code 5 msg and i tryed to open it with mpqview and nothing even showed up. map plays fine just when trying to edit anything it gets corrupted, whats wrong..? edits are really basic things like changing one number or changing a digit in the title field. |

the prolblem has to do with your "war3map.wtg" file. If i doesnt match your triggers right the map will be currupted. If you want to fix this you cant use the trigger editor in the world editor. What you do is just delete the "war3map.wtg" file and this lets you open up the map to edit the objects but not the triggers. If this doesnt solve the problem PM me |

The war3map.wtg file is completely ignored by War3. Only WE uses it so it can't be the source of your problem. |

I think the mpq editor is corrupting the file somehow, its odd that the 2nd mpq editor i tryed couldent even extract files from it though. If anyone knows what the problem is please tell me. I get the error war3map.j is corrupted when i try to play the map. |

they just told you... the .wtg and .j files dont match up so you get an error. |

but isnt the error when you open the editor? and then you have another problem with your mpq editor i think.. thats probably just the mpq editor and has nothing to do with the files. |

as soon as i click on the map in warcraft i get the error Corrupted File war3map.j i just tryed editing the war3map.j file and then deleting the war3map.wtg but the same error appeared. :( i've alredy tryed two different mpq editors... is there a 3rd one i should try? i think its the mpq editor also thats messing up something. Edit: just tryed it with PowerMPQ and it still got corrupted, somethings wrong here theres no way 3 different mpq ediors can make the same miske. its ironic bc i have no problems editing other maps war3map.j file. |

Username2f, - Are you using the most up to date version of WINmpq beacause thats what i used when i got into some of the bigger maps I.E. enfo , etc. ( that was the look at it, not to mess around with it ) - I have had the same problem when i edited the ".j" file and fatel error message says that the problem has to do with the ".wtg" file. When i deleted the ".wtg" file I was able to play it. - If the problem still happens send me the map and i'll make it make for ya and tell you what was wrong with it. |

I have to say one thing: why do you have to edit war3map.j? |

i edited the .j file and deleted the .wtg file and it still crashed as soon as i clicked on the map, if you want to test it try editing *anything* in the attached map. its odd bc i can edit my test maps fine. thanks for your help! |

Why did you give me a "starcraft" map? Give me the map that your having the problem with. The map u gave me will load for me then right when its started it crashes and doesnt give me an error |
