Cinematic fade-in (was: How do you do it?)

In my new map, we're going to make little hot-spots where you can unlock bonus art. The thing is, I'm not entirely sure how to make the picture flash across the screen (we can't do anything other than .jpg in paint, really) and I was wondering if anyone knows how to do that. I've checked the tutorials, but it's like looking for a piece of pork that's been spliced into a cow. Please assist, smart people

Here's just a little sample, to make this post more interesting...

rofl, i think you import it as a .blp (find a converter)

and save it as a splash template (find help once again)

this is the wrong place anyways

rofl that picture is so funny

So...er, where would I post this if this is the wrong place? I'm not really sure what a splash template is, so if someone could find a tutorial on this, I'd be very grateful.

Yea, you'll certainly need to get them to be .blp's. To do that, you're going to need to find something that can convert .jpg to .tga (try http://www.adobe.com/ for a trial of Photoshop), and then download YoBgulS converter to convert .tga to .blp.

then using triggers (cant remember where it was, havent used world edit in a long while cuz it keeps on crashing)
there is a splash screen (check out sheep of death, it came with roc) option thing and select from imported (if any)

Heya Icbm, you got me there, I did create those pics. Me and my buddy here are trying to put funny splash screens into cinematics we make! So like out of nowhere here come some freaky stuffz to scare ya! Cool concept, methinks.

Hmm, just convert the pics into .blp's with Wc3 Image Extractor II, or some other program. Import them to your map using the Import Manager (doh!), and go into to triggers. Make whatever event you find fitting, and make the action "Cinematic - Fade Filter", and set the "Texture" (White mask as default) to your imported .blp .. Works fine in my campaign

Emekun, your idea worked, but for a few little problems. Although I managed to convert the files into .blp, when I got to the import manager, they had a size of 0 kb. To make matters worse, whenever I attempted to use the triggers and fade out using them, Warcraft 3 encountered a critical error, and I had to close it. Any ideas on what went wrong? :o

Hmm, get the Photoshop 7 trial version and save your images as .TGA, and then just import them as .TGA, you won't need to convert them to .blp (I'm not sure if it works for other image types as well, try it) .. and if that aint working, i don't know what you're doing wrong.
