I need a bit of help...

Okay, first of all, I'm about to start on a custom map. Probably an rpg... Is there anything I should get to help me with this? Or should I just use WorldEdit? I probably won't be making custom animations or models or anything of that sort. Also, I've noticed that some maps have sort of a terrain layer on top of the actual map. for example, choosing a character might be on a charater creation thing, and there is a partially transparent terrain block in the mini map displaying on top of the actual terrain, with new camera borders and everything. Can this be done with just WorldEdit? If not, what should I get to do this? Perhaps it is something that answers the first question anyway?

You can do most of that with a World Editor, however, if you are making a large and detailed RPG you may want to try World Editor Unlimited.

I downloaded World Editor Unlimited... but I'm not sure exactly how I need to use it. The last time I DLed an enhancement to World Edit, it screwed up when I installed TFT. I know WEU doesn't mess anything up, but... what would you recommend activating/altering if I don't know exactly what I'm going to do? And how do I make the dual layer terrain effect?

Well, smart things would be to run the WEU Enhancer and click edit map. Load your map and on the right there are checkboxes, you should activated advanced triggering. There's also a section on there that lets you pick up to 16 tiles to you in your map, so you can basically use twice the number of tiles you could normally. Once you done, run the WE Unlimited. Its basically a world editor, but with advanced features, and is much easier to use. Btw, what do you mean by dual layer terrain effect?

By dual layer terrain effect, I mean the thing I described in my first post. I don't know how to explain it other than that it looks as if, in the minimap i mean, a map has been loaded on top of a map. It's as if there are unlimited maps, inside the same map. I suppose a trigger activates it. Alright, I'll give an example. There is an Everquest map, and the creator has a diff section of map for each zone. But they take up the entire minimap. So, if you walk to the edge of the "map" (again, looking at the minimap), a new "map" is loaded on top of the whole minimap for that particular zone. Also, thanks for the WEU help. I figured it out sort of, but I just wasn't sure if I should make a map and edit it with that, or just use that to begin with.

Ahh... my terrain dilemma has been clarified by the wonderful Trigger Haven viewers. Thanks again for the WEU tips. :D
