help me with vertrexmodify! plzz

hi i downloaded 2days ago the programs from oinkerwinkel

i want to modifie the steam tank so i open the w3 vieruwer and export it and make that file to an mdl file. Ive import it into the vertexmodify to schanche the model. I was following the tutorial on this site and on the pic there you see an steam tank but if i import it you see many more lines and i almost cant see an steam tank in it.
