Is it possible to rotate a special effect like for example a Trap Side Frost through triggers without having to create a unit with the Special Effect Model.

There is actually a way. But it requires World Editor Unlimited. There are advanced triggers in WEU that allows you to create travelling special fx and circulating special fx.
