How to make a cape

Hey hello there...i was just thinking about makeing clothing like stuff..so i'm teaching you here how to do it..

Make a simple model( the one your gonna put the cloths on) now from the top view port..draw a CV curve (a wavey CV curve). Then place it close to the model. Now copy the curve, and move it up, and even close to the model, but now resise the copied curve so it is 1/3 the size of the original. Pick the two curves and loft them..you will end up with a wavey surface that looks like cloth.

You should put some more detail into it and make it a tutorial.

The big problem with this is the fact the cloth will look really rigid. The best way to do it is to create a rectangle out of a multitude of triangles, and make a grid-sorta-shape using bones, which can then move seperate parts of the cape, as if it were moving in the wind. Sorta like a fork-shape in the fabric, assigned to lots of different triangles. I'll try and draw a picture sometime soon.

let me show you guys. Make a plane or anything u want. Link it to the model, then add ridgid-body simulation using reactor, this will make realistic cloth animation.

then why don't u just place a cloth on the character (if using maya) instead of using rigid body and then a gravity feild?

maya have cloth simulation yes, but that doesnt add keyframe and there are no plugin to translate that into keyframes and bones so wc3 can use.
And maya is very expensive, you will need a network to make it work.
It cost £250000 i think.
3dsmax is sompatible with games, also the reactor plugin have cloth cimulation too, but same problem, it creates no bones.
So connection many rigid body parts together and simulate, then change the ridgid parts' properties to bones and rig a mesh with them. That will work in wc3.

But if you want to make cloth animation that will be rendered, then use cloth simulation is best.
Maya is a very good program which many big studios use to make their movies, of course they use many others, most of the studios make their own programs and plugins. With maya you can do smoke simulation, which i really want that 3dsmax should have.

Mental ray can be sue to make a good render, because you can program it to render as u like. But its hard to use too.

Omg why am i talking about this here...

so, how much of this will work in wc3 I ask you?

one of it will work in wc3, ridgid body simulation will work, i ahve tested it

I would say, none. Since wc3 doesnt support any modificator etc nor would it run smooth with such a bunch of polys.

excactly, and Mad, yeah I know, I was refering t the original post :)

what bunck of polies? and yes, wc3 does support ridgid body simulation. if you ahve used that b4 then u will understand
