Diablo 2 RPG (5 maps total) NEW SKILL TREE IDEA***

I'm looking to put a small team together, this project could be done by 1 person, but the time it would take is astronomical.

Special Feature:
The Skill tree Zoom (requires log in) , This is just to show you the basic concept. I'll use charged bolt as an example.
Say you choose/load a sorc, circle of powers will be strategicly placed in ur 3 skill tree windows. (Lets just say you've choosen a sorc thus being lvl 1) You then type -st (standing for skill tree) it will place your camera veiw over ur skill trees and lock it, you then select the book pedastal at the charged bolt beacon Zoom (requires log in).......................... You start with 1 lumber and each time you gain a lvl u receive 1 lumber, at the book pedistal you can buy Charged Bolt lvl 1 upgrade for 1 lumber. Then you go to the other building called Charged Bolt Hotkey Zoom (requires log in) ........................................ There you can buy a merc named Charged Bolt Hotkey, once built the unit is hidden, he takes up 1 food, you have 5 food total, when the charged bolt hotkey is built, the ability charged bolt is placed on ur sorc, and depending on its upgraded lvl it will place the correct lvl. SO! If this may be confusing I dunno waht to tell you. This way, you can have every spell in d2 and not be limited to how many a hero can hold. You can also type: -r1 to remove the spell in spell slot 1. So you can add and remove skills as you like, a bit difficult but when i play d2, i never use more than 4 spells at once.

Each spell ie Charged bolt, is composed on 20 different normal spells, instead of it being a hero spell and having 20 levels. OR if I get some help (hopefully) I can make the 20 different normal spells = 20 different hero spells instead. Why do this? To add the concept of synergies! This is a hard concept to explain,

lets say you have lvl 2 lighning bolt and that adds synergies to charged bolt, ur charged bolt is lvl 1. So for every 2 lvls of something that adds synergiesit raises ur spells hero lvl one
Charged Bolt lvl 1 has 20 different lvls
Charged bolt lvl 2 has 20 different lvls
so
Charged bolt lvl 1 + 2 lvls of some that adds synergies ie lightning bolt lvl 2 =
Charged Bolt lvl 1 Lvl 2

If you didn't understand the skill tree your total lost now. I'm also planing to make each model have no weapon in its hand. and importing each weapon class, so the items are not restricted, and ima try to make alot of the same weapons from d2.

To close, This is gonna be a really really cool rpg, the first of its kind i think, (no not being of d2 but with the spell system) Plz post here or msg me if your interested, Im making a map for each act, and im confident that I can make every area in d2 on wc3.

Some people I'm looking for
1-2 more people to help with spells / triggers
1 person to help me with items and item abilitys
Possible 1 more person for terrain
1 Modeller that can edit a model or so to make each class.
1 person to design the monsters (having them do same dmg with same health as on d2)

I contribute to each field cept modeling cause i just cant do that.

I'm glad to hear someone understands it, I was gonna be afraid I would mess up what I'm trying to say and everyone would be lost.

Awesome way of workin that out. I was always thinking how could I do something like a skill tree. Well there you go. If you need any help pm me or something.

Well if you are going to use wood (or the wood slot) for skill points. And you are defently going to need gold for... well buying shit. I guess food might work. Every lv or something you get 5 more max food.... and then you buy a s/i/a point, and when you do it gives you a little small wisp that goes in the corner of the map (it very small, you can't see) and the wisp costs 1 food. It's a start I guess.....

The Gold/Food/Wood system works like:
1 Wood Per level to be used to buy a skill
1 food to be used up for each spell ur hero has on it.
and Gold is just for buying stuff.
I havnt decided how strength intell and agility works.
Strength is probably just to add life. Kinda like Vitality
Intellegence = Energy
Agility = Dexterity
Strength = I dunno yet...
Anyways I gotta work 40 hours this weak plus I have a side job todo so I don't have time to start the map.

I've been thinking about how to make certain aspects of the mod to work, and I don't think they will, and unless I can find a way I will not be continueing this 5 map d2 mod.

I give anyone permission to use the skill tree idea. If maybe you thought it was stealing the idea.

Here is an idea how you could do skill points. Edit a worker unit and set portrait to the stats icon. Then, when a hero lvls, create 5 units for owner of the leveling hero. This will show: Stat icon, little number 5 (5 stat points available). Then when player selects one (or presses F6(or whatever it is)) It will open up a dialog which will have options Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, Energy and Save Point(dunnno if those are correct names lol... dont bother correcting me) When you have clicked one of those options, one unit will be removed or not if you choose to save point. When one menu has closed, It will keep opening up new ones for the amount of remaining skill points the player has.

Say I have 5 skill points, I choose dex first, then str, dex, save and save. I will have the little stat icon and a small number two.

Its just an idea, you could choose to do it or not.

Stats aren't hard because you just set the custom stat value, then there was some system I think it was weadder's that allowed you to distribute stats like d2.

skill tree is a cool idea except it'd take a crazy amount of space for each players 3 different trees, good idea though, there should be better though.

Inventory is the thing I would be having trouble coming up with, I am sure it would have something to do with multiboards, but I am such a newb with those.

Anyways, Good luck, I may be able to help.

Exactly why I don't think I can complete the map how I want. The skill tree can be super small and still function, I mean as long as the camera angle is right you could make it as small as possible, so I don't worry about that space.

Ok, I am confused, you said that you could make it small and everything, yet before that you say that that's exactly why you don't think you can complete the map how you want.
