Help Animating!!!

hello, i made a custom model of a catapult from scratch but I have no idea where to begin by adding animations so it moves can someone help me and teach me how to animate? I am using the Wings 3D program

i had wings 3d it couldn't animate so i bought 3ds max 5
i'm not 100% sure it can't animate but i couldn't

There is a trial version of milkshape(30 days,after that,search for serial)It has anim in it.

wings3d cannot animate, however, you can export whatever you made as a .3ds file and get yourself either milkshape, gmax, or 3dsmax <i recommend gmax cause it's the closes thing to 3dsmax and it's free> www.discreet.com/products/gmax

omg!!! gmax + dex + some knowledge on 3d,
thats all u need and i can guarantee that ur model will come out really good.
if u cant then just giv me the model in 3ds format and ill do it for u.
also anyone who wantsa prog for free to model for warcraft, just get gmax and dex, its so simple, its way better than any other program!!!

thankyou graciously, I just got gmax and waiting for the email, what is dex? and can gmax model, animate and texture?

dex is an exporter that exports your model... and yes it can animate and texture here is dex \V/

thankyou very much been a great help, one last question, is there a tutorial for gmax, because I can create a snowman but that is about it... I do not know how to create irregular shapes, like arms exe.

actually u dont need to follow a gmax tut, go to google and seach for 3ds max modeling tutorials, its about the same thing. it shows u mesh editing and poly editing... stuff like that but ur gonna need a tutorial for dex, definately, its not an easy thing to use.
