New at making icons, what you think?

Well, I got bored one day(yesterday) and started looking through my things. I saw some cool icons and thought, "Why not try and make my own." Well, Here they are, the 4 I made, Thunderstorm being my first, and the Troll Demon Hunter my last. Just wondering what you people think, how I can imporve, tips or whatnot...Here they are!

Thunder stike:
Colors are really bad. Those lightnings looks like some plants to me. Adding dark green ground and lack of any lightning effects makes it look like swamp icon.

Pierce:
This one is better. Still lacks shading and lightning but you can clearly see what it shows. Was this yellow thing supposed to be skin?

Dark Elf:
Well, it's rather blue elf. Again, lines are too thick and it lacks shading. Also eyes are little too big. Good hair effect and face shape :D

Troll DH:
Too thick lines and lack of shading. He looks very cool though. Love the look of his face. :>

Practice more and you will make icons of Blizzard's quality :D

Well the Thunderstorm one is bad cause it was my first, but I see what your saying. Thanks for the compliments and advice! I'll keep working on it :D

This should be in the skinning gallery, don't post your skins/icons here. Also, its nice if you post a jpg of a skin.

Eww... Harsh (tough love). My only advice is to post JPGs like MantisScreamer said. I am not going to download something just to see a picture of it, because you were to lazy to convert it, and don't even tell me you don't have a proper converter. Not only are about 50 of them linked to from this forum, but there are two good ones IN the downloads section.

Post some JPGs, I'll take a look and give my advice/comments/criticism.
