Land of Erad--The Most MMORPG-Like Map Yet!

First of all, I am not exactly looking for members. I can't seem to find the right forum where I can talk about the map for people to look forward to it--so, I'm here. NOTE: I -may- need alpha testers for this.

Land of Erad is a map which follows most MMORPGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), with tradeskills, economic systems, and PKing. One could call this an Open RPG, but it is unique for the following reasons:

1) There are two opposing cities, and 4 players for each city, who can try to destroy each other.
2) The cities are PLAYABLE.
3) Allows you to go up to level 10,000.
4) Will have several different tradeskills, which can be used for profit, power, or to simply make your own materials.
5) You can actually BUY shops, and set the prices for your items (and has anti-cheat so you can't set the prices extremely low and sell them at a marketplace for easy cash).
?) There may be many many more reasons, but that is yet to be seen.

Hope you look forward to the map! In the mean time, here is a picture of the sewers for the Alliance team.

Ok, so your not exactly looking for help? Your doing every single bit of this huge project by yourself, I like the idea, but if your this by yourself 99.99999 % it's impossible.

Anyways, so it's 4 people on a team, 2 teams, and you travel the world getting exp, and then try to kick the other cities ass? Is it just 2 cities? No minor cities or towns?

If your doing this cool shops and stuff idea, unless you can somehow save the shop, it won't be that great.... unless you wanted to make your own gateway server to allow more people in-game that would actually want to see a new shop, but hey! there are limits to stuff you can do...... :) And good luck on putting that anti-cheat in! I think what would be cooler is instead of prices, being able to craft an item, and putting that in your store and just set prices in the world editor for the crafted items, instead of letting them set their own.. MUCH MUCH MUCH Better....

Level 10,000? I don't have that much spare time, your going to have so many abilities and spells it going to be tedious trying to make sure all your spells are to close or to far, cause I don't want to be going from level 6k to 7k with no new spells!

You planning on using classes or jobs? Male/Female? I'd like to know the basis of the open RPG you are creating, what aspects of the others are you using?

It'd be cool if you got the tradeskills, I know there is a mining exp tutorial somewhere, which would be cool if you leveled up in the tradeskill. and got some particular bonus I dunno what? Just please don't make it where you select weaponsmith, herbalist, alchemy etc.

All in all, daunting idea, but good luck, I can help with triggers, ideas, spells, units, and I got plenty of spare time if you need some help.

Good Luck and please answer my questions.

Edit: BTW, Fladian I beat you again

Ahhh... allow me to explain in more depth. There are no "hero ability" spells in this (maybe a few, to be figured out later), but rather Scroll items which you can buy. I have recently figured out a plot where your ultimate goal is to recover the 15 pieces of the shattered Cube of Erad, an artifact of ultimate power which was destroyed in a match-off of one of the most powerful wizards of our age.

((Note: Here comes a LOT of information.))

Onto the shops: You have to buy a shop every game, you don't keep it through the save/load code--can you imagine the hell if two people with a shop loaded and owned the same shop? Each shop has SET items, and you cannot put your own items in (but you can simply sell them to other players old fashioned way via the Alliance dialog), and each of the set items has a certain value. Mining Picks cost 120 gold by default (if you were to buy them at a normal marketplace), so if you try to set the cost below 60 (the pawning price), then the price would automatically be set back to 60.

Onto the topic of cities! No, there are no other cities, only these cities. But I make up for this with the numerous number of creeps who respawn using the old StarCraft system, and the different indoor places where the creeps lair. Like so: Sewers (Rats and Giant Rats), and Spider Lairs (You can figure this one out).

Onto tradeskills, classes, and jobs. There are no jobs, or classes--if you were to have a job, you choose it by your own decision. If you want to be a smithy, miner, herbalist--then work for it, and study in your tradeskill! Your class, is measured by what items you have, or just...whatever the hell you want to call yourself! Note: That Mining XP Tutorial--I wrote it. There might be another one, but that ones mine.

EDIT: Heres a little piccy of how the shops work.

Bah, sorry but this just completely lost my interest, just in my opinion, let me tell you why.

First of all, the scrolls, I hate when you can only cast a spell a certain amount of times, it kills me, I'd just be a warrior so I wouldn't have to worry about how many casts I had left and whatnot.

Second, I couldn't be a warrior cause there are no classes, everyone's character is alike? no item restrictions? In the end you'd have every character with the best items, because there are no restrictions on which character can carry what..... Every guy will be using the same thing, that's just no fun.

The starcraft system, Elaborate, please.... This is warcraft, any person knows monsters should be region specific, this isn't anything new.

Shops.... I guess it's good because that's the only way you can obtain certain items, but setting your own price would not only be difficult to do, but also just stupid IMHO, because you could get items cheaper than they are supposed to be, I still like my idea of setting your crafted items in the shop.

When I am running around looking for shops, it's going to be crazy cause I will to run through this huge map all the way back to my team's city to buy anything.

When you gather this artifact, it does?

Trade skills is ok, but if you do 'level up' in that tradeskill what happens? Mine faster, more recipes, etc?

You had me going for awhile, hoping that this would be good, but some of the things just don't entice me to look forward to this, keep in mind this is just my opinion, and either way I wish you the best of luck.

BTW, if your just getting used to Worldedit, this is not the best map to try.

Good luck-
Jew
