What is the limit to the size of map that can be hosted/downloaded on battle.net. Are they different? Is there a limit to host size?

The max map size that can be transferred on battle.net is 4 mb. It's in your best interest not to go over about 1 mb, however, because that'll take quite a while to download (which also means that many people won't stick around to download it).

I understand. But is there any HOSTING limit? Like if i imported photoshop ( -_- ) into a map and it was 100 megabytes, theoretically if others had the map could it be played on battle.net?

I've never tried, but I reckon that it won't let you create a game with a map that's above the limit. Try it.

Maps with more than 4mb cannot be played on battle.net, hosted, or downloaded. Sorry.

4 mb is the current limit

though i know some guy who said it will be 6 mb in the next patch but could be false.

Anyways no ones willing to Download or Play a map thats over 4MB anyways, it's far too large for the ones with slow computers.

Yes, I remember someone saying that 6mb would be the new limit. But you have to take into consideration who said it, and how they said they knew.

The overall map size won't slow down a slow computer. If you have 50mb worth of imports, it won't slow down your computer if they aren't used, and it'll only slow your computer down if its too much to handle. I'm pretty sure a 4mb map isn't too much for a cpu to handle. But if one of the imports is a high poly model, it may slow the computer down quite a bit, or if the terrain is too complex and their video card sucks.

If your going to use a map that slows down slow computer, do what Julien did and find a way to add system requirements.
