Legends of Duratorn (New Map)

Hello! Im just starting a new Multiplayer RPG with the "all the rage" Hero save and load feature. I have been inspired to create this map by the game Neocron, for those of you who have played it, you'll be able to see how the storyline is similar. Now Im not a pro modeller or a texture artist so I'll be sticking with the basic WC3:TTF Units, Doodads, Textures e.t.c. However I will be doing as much as I can to make this as unique and different.

The history behind the map is fairly basic. There was a huge war that lasted over 300 years on the lands of Duratorn. One army was the Warriors of the Keep who held out at the Great Keep to the north of the land. Their enemy was a faction called The Aggressors. But through the careless onslought and destruction to life, the gods became enraged and thus cursed the land with 30 years of hot weather, famine and disease. The curse could only be lifted if there was permanent peace in Duratorn before the 30 years was over. The raging heat turned people and creatures crazy and the diseases turned living things into mutant lumps of flesh, some so bad they were unreckognisable. The war was over soon after the curse began with the defeat of Zurall Firebite, the leader of The Aggressors. Its said that Zurall tried to call a curse of some sort but it was never confirmed as apparently he was killed before he could finnish his spell. The remaining people of The Aggressors we're left without magical shelter from the disease and heat, together with rage toward what the Great Keep had done to them, turned even more crazy that most other living things left in the wasteland. The Aggressors sought refuge on the islands in the sea and command most of the water around Duratorn. However only 7 months after the war ended it was found that The Aggressors, with the rage and mutation, seemed to become stronger by the day. This struck fear into the Great Keep's Council as war once again is at the Great Keep's doorstep.

This is where the game begins. You must see to it that The Aggressors are wiped out with no mercy. It was my intention to have some people to play as The Aggressors but after a little thought, they would be creeps and thus make this very difficult. If I do find a way though, this will be implemented. Here are some other features that will be in the map...

Campfires : These set your Hero to sleep but regenerate health and mana 4 times faster, also create a cool campfire with a pig on it ;)

Excavate : There are treasures lost with dead heros in the wastelands from the previous war, if you excavate in the right spots you will find these treasures.

Ghosts : Like in World of Warcraft, if your hero dies you become a ghost and have to return to your corpse to revive.

Hero Save and Load : Yes the all famous hero save code will be in this map.

Im still thinking about other things I may implement into the map but for now I just want to get the map itself finished. If you have any ideas don't hesitate to drop them in.

(Edit Addition 6th August 2004)

More Features I have thought about...

Random Global Weather : Need I explain?

Item Durability : The more an Item is used the more its durability goes down just like in Diablo. This durability will be very high as I will not be putting in any form of repair. This is unless I find a way to make max durability go down a little after each repair. Obviously better items will have better durability.

Soul Stones : Scorceresses and Warlocks will be able to cast a spell on creatures and trap thier soul. Once a soul is trapped and the creature is killed a soul stone will be dropped and be used to put in "Sockets". This will also be based on a level system, basicly the higher the level the better the soul and buffs from it will be.

Sockets : As in Diablo 2, there will be socketed weapons armor and other items. The Warriors and Achers will have to socket a basic weapon and then a soul stone can be placed into it. Only Paladins and Battemages can encrust the item with a soul stone.

Duratorn? Is that a misspelling of Durotar, Durotan, or did you alter the name for an entirely different place?
