im trying to get a skill based off of dark summoning to show up on the hero skill list but its not showing up. in the abilitydata.slk file, i set it to be able to be used in the world editor. im using ROC and its not where it should be alphabetically and its not on the bottom of the list. how do i get it to show up? do i have to edit another file? |

It's been a while since I've done modding in RoC, but I seem to recall that Dark Summoning is available in RoC by default, without being enabled. I could be mis-remembering. Dark Summoning was the Dreadlord's original ultimate ability in early RoC beta. |

1) it should be by default, it is for tichodriaous or something. 2) buy TFT, makes like sooo much easier mapping and gaming wise. |

no it hink his proplem is that hsi custom ability based off of it isnt showing up, to fix that, hmm, us the .slk in the units folder, in your war3 install directory? thats the only thing i could think of. it has to be there with RoC because if you import it with WinMPQ the editor deletes it, but it reads local files from your war3 directory, hten you import them before you play with it, but when you open it again there gone |

the other custom skills i made are on the list but the one based off dark summoning isnt. the original spell dark summoning is accessible in the item abilities list but i want it to be a hero ability. and as a note, i checked tichondrius' abilities and his ultimate is NOT dark summoning, it is instead, finger of death. i put the files in the local directory AND the other custom skills show up so i dont know whats wrong. |

Well then check if that's a heros ability. If it is then.... well you can just remake it and see if it works. |

i did set it to be a hero skill. i dont exactly know what you mean by remaking it but this is the skill i based off dark summoning. i took this from the abilitydata.slk file viewed from notepad and slightly edited. i make a new skill and put the same values for all the fields and nothing happened... im pretty much screwed arent i? edit: i just tried to use the item recall ability as a base and it doesnt work... i guess that means either item abilities dont work as hero abilities or those two are just being mean and wont work with me. :( |

in both, the parts of the original ability i changed were alias, comment, hero/item, sort, required level, cost, cool, and range. everything else i leave the same. for dark summoning, i increased the amount of units it brings over. edit: i got it to work. i had used the same alias (AS10) the whole time but when i change it, it works... what a bitch. my problem now is how to get ladik's mpq editor to add files without crashing... |

You should be using WinMPQ. I never had it crash when I used it to import files in RoC. |

does winmpq compress the files? i found a link to techmpq and thats what im using to import files into my map but it doesnt compress. :\ |

.mpq is a compression file format. I'm not sure what else you're referring to by "compress". |

theres a ratio, original size to compressed size. when i import the files using TechMPQ, the ratios is 100% meaning that the files were not compressed but just left at their original size. |
