Assistance with geosets

Alright... I've spent the good part of 5 hours reading tutorials and experimenting, but I cannot get this scenerio to work.

What I'm trying to do is put Arthas's Hammer on the Undead Arthas, instead of Frostmourne. (I'm just doing this to see if I can do it.) These are the steps I followed using Vertex Editor and Geosetmerger....

1) I saved the UndeadArthas.mdl.
2) I saved the Arthas.mdl.
3) I opened Geoset 1 of UndeadArthas.mdl in the Vertex Editor and deleted Frostmourne, and saved it.
4) I opened Geoset 3 of Arthas.mdl in the Vertex Editor and deleted Arthas's arms, leaving only his Hammer. I saved it.
5) I opened geosetmerger, with UndeadArthas as my base model and Arthas as my geoset. I used textures/arthas.blp as my texture. And... I used something for the bone as I had no idea what to use.
6) I merged.

Upon importing my model to World Editor, restarting, and using the model for a unit, I found that it was a nice, big, yellow box because it couldn't load.

Could someone tell me how I would do this? This is a skill I'd like to develop. Thanks.

You should use 'Save Geoset' here.

Your slash is going the wrong way. It should be Textures\Arthas.blp

I'm looking at the regular Arthas, but for it you would use 'Hammer: HandR'.

You actually can delete vertices with my program; you just have to leave at least one face (which you can snap into a single point).

Ah, this could be a big part of the problem.

Actually, I typed it correctly in geosetmerger, I just made a typo in my original post.

Thanks. Do you know what you'd use for Undead Arthas's right hand?

What do you mean, I have to leave at least one face? ( I'm new to this. )
Is there something wrong with deleting everything except the weapon?

Thanks for the reply, I'll try again using "Save Geoset"

I got it working, however, I still have a few questions...

Some weapons are on their own geoset, and when opened in the vertex editor, only appear in the upper left-hand window. How could I get a unit to hold this weapon? I've only been able to transfer weapons when the weapon appears in all 3 windows and I position it correctly.

How do I remove the glow on heroes?

If I knew how to do those two things, especially the first one, I could get pretty adept at this. Thanks in advance for any help.

It doesn't show up in the others because it's off the screen. Use the four unlabeled buttons by each viewport to adjust where you're looking, or just zoom out (click the -) to find it. From there, you should be fine if you can get any weapons to ever work.

Open that geoset, delete all vertices to leave only one or two faces, snap the remaining ones, and save.

The new version of the vertex modifier does deal with having no vertices by removing the geoset. I'm probably going to release that soon.

Thanks Oinkerwinkle, you've been a big help! I see where where the weapon was far off to the side.

Last couple of questions, I swear....

What is a face, and what does the snap tool do?
