Here's the hierarchy:
Code:
Bone_Root
  Bone_Pelvis
    Bone_Chest
      Bone_Head
      Bone_Arm1_R
        Bone_Arm2_R
          Bone_Hand_R
      Bone_Arm1_L
        Bone_Arm2_L
          Bone_Hand_L
    Bone_Leg1_R
      Bone_Leg2_R
        Bone_Foot_R
    Bone_Leg1_L
      Bone_Leg2_L
        Bone_Foot_L

Here's where they go. Only some are labeled, but you should be able to get the idea.

the end of a bone is an attachment point (for blizz models)

got one more question oinkerwinkle, how exactly should i split up my mesh? i.e. for the arms, should it be split up to something like biceps, elbow, knees, thighs, calf?
if you have time, it would really save my ass for another one of those ref pics labeled w/ separated mesh this time, thx in advance

This isn't labeled, but they should hopefully be pretty clear since you've seen the other already.

allright, thx again
EDIT: lol, if you pass by somehow, i have one more question, no need for pix this time, hehe

anyways, i was wondering if there was a "Weapon bone". i remember hearing about it somewhere before. is it any different from a hand bone? also, is it possible to have one bone/mesh missing from the whole hierarchy?

A weapon bone isn't stardardly used, I don't think. You can leave parts of the hierarchy out.
