I am currently working solo on a very large project - which I put an average of 6 hours a day on. (what can I say, its summer!).

Anyway - I like most everyone dispise the "press any key to continue" on the load screen and haven't found a method to get rid of it.

I know this is possible because I have seen it done in "DoTA Allstars". Thanks in advance ^_^ ^_^

well, do you still want the text? if you do i dont know what to say but there is a way to make it load likea lnormal meelee game, look around in the game options

the only way i can think of for the text version would be, on map initiolazation (sic) force a UI key, but im not sure if that would work

use default loading screen, and it will load like melee, but you wont be able to have load screen text.

Aha yes but you could either have a little img in the preview pic or infomation on a pre-made custom loading screen ^_^

Yeah I have made a custom loading screen - but is pretty difficult to put text on it without it getting warped based on any given user's game resolution. In some cases, this can lead to it becoming unreadable.

I want to maintain the loading screen text (no melee screen) and still get rid of the "press any key to continue". I would ignore this issue but I've seen it done before, as I have stated earlier: in "DoTA Allstars"

I've also tried to force UI key on map init - but that doesn't work, maybe if I make it force UI key after a few seconds... :(

I don't get why people think this, Blizzard isn't full of morons as too many people think. Not every player has to press any key to continue, you're not waiting for other people to press the key to continue, your waiting for people to load.

... While players do not have to "press any key to continue" for the game to load. There is still a delay after all computers have loaded. I have tested this with 4 different computers. I want to get rid of all delays possible - I'm striving for perfection! ^_^

Well considering all the effort you say you are putting into this (6 hours a day on average!) I'd say that it's well worth the wait! And anyways, you will never find perfection with the Map editor. As advanced as it is, you'll almost never be completely satisfied. Worry about the true game, not how many seconds you have to wait after everybody presses a key. Good luck on your project. :D

ok

it is hard to change that for every person but you can change it for your own computer but changing the text in GlobalStrings.fdf in the war3.mpq file to change it you have to put the globalstrings.fdf in the war3patch.mpq

i doesnt change your problem but maybe this information will help you

Beta_Tester

PS- you cant just import it into the map, i never was able to get it to work on my map

globalstrings.fdf is just has the string value for "PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE". I don't really care about changing what it says... I want to skip it all together. Thanks for your help though - it looks like there is no easy way around it. Drives me crazy though because I've seen it done! (tested by loading such game in LAN alone, never asked "press any key to continue" with non-melee loading screen)
