It's not easy to learn at first but once you get the hang of it ..... It can still be painful :\ . If you've made a model i'll assume you have Max or similar. There are plugins and programs around the place. I use ChilliSkiner plugin on Max 4.26.

This has all the guides you need. Otherwise, post the name of your modelling program and I'll see if I can find something

DragonSheaperd I think I detect a small amount of sarcasm, haha. Look, it's a process but you'll get it eventually. The key is to look at 3d and see 2d, I find you have to mentally break it up into segments. o_O

The AK47 tute is probably the best to use as a guide in Warcraft related models. On the plus side it's much much easier to go from "modeller" to "3d skinner" than it is for noobs to learn intermediate modelling from scratch. :8

Bones. Thats another section of the forum though. I'm not 100% competant in that field yet. Rightfield wrote an awesome tute I'm skimming over at the moment.

Also look around for anything Whitehorn or Oinkewinkle might have written.

You need to first goto materials -> uvmap and from there you click stuff and uv accordingly, although I don't know much besides that.

a word of advice about milkshape, its ok for a newbie program but my advice is for you too get 3d max 5.0 or above (or even 4.0). 3d max has so much to offer the modeller, (mortal kombat deadly alliance crew from midway use 3d max)

yes if you wanted to make a custom model skin first you would need to use the unwrap feature in 3d max unwrap the model and shape it so you can edit it in a paint program such as photoshop or paintshop pro
