I am a newb in the skining aspect of wc3. ROC. I have a few questions, and i know someone will answer them..because i see alot of TFT not..roc.. 1. How do i use custom skins with roc? --> I have imported them (wrongly) into war3.mpq to replace skins already there... (Yes, i know conversions of bmp/jpg/tga-->.blp and back) And they appear as shadows...so i have to reinstall wc3 for the third time.. I imported the skin into my map itself using WINmpq...its there Now how do i use it inside the map?(Using WE ROC..then how?) 3. If i am able to open .tga files in PSP 7, does this mean i good to go with skinning? If not(and if i do not find): Tge targa plugin for psp 7, could someone redirect me there? (Or the correctly named plugin etc) -A LOT OF THANKS for anyone who knows roc skinning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Horus the skinning newb |

You dont import them into the War3.mpq you import them into a map and the maps skin is replaced with your skin. |

The targa plugin is an alpha channel fix for photoshop I believe, and it looks like you are good to go on skinning with PSP7. Well, Im not sure what you mean by importing into the w3m, if you mean open it with winmpq and import it that way, then yes, thats all you should need to do. If your imported file and the original have the exact same name, including all the slashes, then you should have it correctly implemented. There are ways of using both the original skin and the custom one in the same map if you check some of the tutorials. If you can't see it immediately when opening WE, either go ahead and test play to see if you have it in there, or save the map and reopen WE. And is there any particular reason besides a monetary issue that you don't have FT? |

when you import a file, it should prompt you for a prefix for the file, and if you are wanting to add a custom skin for the archmage (Units\Human\Archmage\Archmage.blp), then the file path prefix would be "Units\Human\Archmage\" if you are importing a file called "Archmage.blp", which most likely you are if its the archmage skin. As you can see, when it adds it to the mpq, it comes out "Units\Human\Archmage\Archmage.blp" It does ask you for a prefix, right? If not, I'll go ahead and download winmpq and try it out again |

Hahha, i forgot about this thread, i already got my skins to work..but not really, chekc out my we--> wc3 problem thread: http://www.wc3campaigns.com/showthread.php?t=62724 ...thanks for answering.. and, doesn't winmpq need microsoft .net framework? My winpq is busted, it tells me every map i make is 'using unknown protection' and shows me a blank w3m archive... I use ladek's mpq, but it has no path input, but it has a folder create option, which is just a longer version of the winmpq input box. I would really like your help in the second thread tho, i'll rep you for this one too:D |
