Mpq question - (listfile) regeneration

In my map I use a few custom models and a custom fade filter. I make two copys of the map, copy 1 and copy 2. I then delete the (listfile) and the war3map.wtg file in both copys.

When I replace the war3map.j in copy1 through any MPQ editor and then try to play the map the error invalid shadow map file appears and the map will not run.

When I replace the war3map.j file through the world editor's Import Manager by importing war3map.j as war3map.j the map is playable but the triggers do not work. Also all of the custom files are deleted so the filesize is greatly reduced and many models do not load.

In my trial and error I was able to edit the map sucessfully but I don't remember how I did it.

If anyone could shead some light on this strange phenomina as to how I am to go about editing my map that would be great.

Thanks for your time.

If no one can help me here I'd really love a pointer to a place that could.

Thanks again!

I'm wondering how you could load your map after deleting the .wtg file. The wE should pop up an error when trying to open it.

Anyway I'm not quite sure what you want.

The world editor does not have a problem loading a map without the war3map.wtg file, try it yourself and see.

So what I'm asking is how do I correctly replace the war3map.j file.

My attempts thus far:

Your first attempt would be the best way to go.
I have replaced map scripts with mpq editors many times and it works.
I don't know why it complains about an invalid shadow map - it's got nothing to do with it.
maybe try also deleting the (attributes) file with the mpq editor (it keeps a crc32 of all files in the archive and if one is changed it might complain about corrupted files.

you should use the import manager to import files used by the editor to make sure they keep the attributes the editor expects
