Orb of Annihilation

I have an ability based off of orb of annihilation for a hero but for some reason it wont have the splash effect. I test the same ability on the destroyer and it splashes. How come the hero doesnt have the splash effect?

The attack type of the unit/hero must be missile - splash. I think the destroyers have this as their secondary attack...
