Im new to making W3 maps. So im going to be asking alot of questions and they are most likely going to be very easy and kind of lame like this question. How do I get a unit to rapid fire? Thanks - Ocean |

Decrease it's attack cooldown on the object editor. |

Open a map, at the top should be the word Module. Move your cursor to Module until a drop-down list appears, then click Object Editor. Create or select the unit you want to attack faster, and find the field labeled Combat - Attack 1 Cooldown. This is how many seconds are in between each attack. If you set it to 10, the unit attacks once every 10 seconds. If you set it .50, the unit attacks once every half a second. You can put it to 0 and they attack MAD fast! |

typically you can't edit units to attack faster than 0.7 sec if you don't first edit the "Combat - Attack # Animation - Backswing time" to 0.000 |

Now how would I go about changing the "Combat - Attack # Animation - Backswing time" to 0.000" |

well in the unit editor, under "Combat" there is a field called Backswing time some where, just change that |

Well um.... Where is combat >.< Sorry for my incompetence. |

Again, go to Module>Object Editor, select/create a unit, scroll down until you find a bunch of fields where the first word is Combat, then near the top should be one labeled Comabt - Attack 1 - Animation Backswing. |

Just look at the beginning... there should be a whole long list of thingies with the word Combat before them (if you're using WE, the categories should be alphabetical, so Combat would be near the top... I think...) |

I cant find it. I can get into the Object editor and all and i've played around with it a bit. I just cant find Combat - Attack 1 - Animation Backswing. I see all the other like Combat - Aquisition Range Combat - Attack 1 - Area of effect full damage Combat - Attack 1 - Area Of Effect medium damage Combat - Attack 1 - Area of effect small damage '' '' Area of effect targets '' '' Attack type '' '' Cooldown time (Which I have set to 0.01) '' '' Attack 1 damage base '' '' Damage Factor '' '' Damage Number Of Dice '' '' Damage Sides per DIe '' '' Projectile Art '' '' Projectile Speed '' '' Range '' '' Targets Allowed '' '' Weapon Type All of that is in order from the 1st Combat. Now I dont know if Im going blind. Or my editor is missing something or you guys are talking about a different editor. But I cant find it! |

Ohhh, um, try looking under Art then. Art - Combat Animation Backswing or something. If it's not under Combat, it's probably under Art... |

No, it's supposed to be under combat all right, i just think it's not called "animation beckswing", but "backswing point", or maybe "animation - backswing point". Look more thouroughly. It's definitely in the standard editor (unless in case of some wierd bug :/). It should be right next to "damage point". |

Humm, Could it be aquisition range? Or under art could it be scaling value or selection Scale? I dont see it any where.... I also dont see damage point -_- I dont get it! I've looked so many times! |

The field you're looking for is "Combat - Attack 1 - Animation Backswing Point". It's at the top of the attack-related combat fields, just below "Combat - Armor Type". Scaling value is the size of the unit. Setting it to "2" will make the unit twice as big, and setting it to "0.5" will make the unit appear only half as big. Selection scale is just the diameter of the selection circle. Aquisition range is the distance at which the unit automatically finds targets to attack. This is also the maximum range for ranged units (so if a unit has an Aquisition range of 500 and a Range of 700, its range will be 500). The damage is made up of three values: "Damage Base", "Damage Number of Dice" and "Damage Sides per Die". It basically assumes that you use dice, having one number that states how many of these virtual dice the game is to roll each time the unit attacks, and one value to determine how many sides each of these attacks have. The Damage Base plus the number of dice will be the units minimum damage. The number of dice multiplied by the "sides per die" value plus the Damage Base value is the maximum damage. |

Wow That was very informative for me. Now... I can find "Combat - Attack Type" and "Combat - Defence type" But no armor type. And im sure its there because Ive seen it before. Im not sure If im going crazy or something. Does every field appear for every unit? Because I am changing a Night elf archer. Alright I looked around in the object editor and all and I can get a building to shoot really fast but not a unit. In the end I have a black farm that was moving around and rapidly shooitng demon hunters (The actaul unit) really fast and was talking like a Goblin Zepplin. Now you guys may think thats really easy but for me its an accomplishment!!! :god_help_us: But I still cant get units to attack fast and that is making me mad. Obviously I got the building to shoot fast because it has no back swing. And also when I was Modifing the unit I chose archer and I changed the icons and everything I also changed the Model to a spider thing (forgot name) Would that have a effect on anything o_O |
