I'm not a terrainer, so I got a question. I'm sure some of you have played DBZ Tribute. You'll notice there's a quest for the tree of might. The quest includes a large tree, slightly above ground so you can see its roots spreading outward and it is extremely large in size. I'm just wondering what a good tree to use would be, and how to give it the effect of the roots spreading outward from it. |

that is the world tree doodad, its actually only the trunk, if you could zoom out enough youd find that it has no top, so you can't use it as an actuall tree |

I don't plan on using it as an actual tree... you're never gonna be zoomed out enough to see the top of it anyway. |

Yes, the world tree would probably be the best choice, because it already comes with "roots" If the tree is going to remain as a doodad, then when you place it in the editor, select it, press (and hold) the Ctrl key, then press either Page Up or Page Down to Raise or lower the tree until the desired amount of roots is shown. If you make the tree a unit, (which I don't recomend, because it is easier to do when it is a doodad) edit the elevation amount under in the Unit Editor. This is a slower and unfriendlier than the method mentioned above because you have to "guess" the height, and then to adjust it you need to go through the Unit Editor and fiddle with the movement height until you get the desired effect. Hope this helps... :D |
