Hi :] This thing pretty much started from a doodle that I just decided to ink(digital) just for practise. And after that I decided to give it color too. It's a pretty basic figure and all but here it is :] It's a Familiar of this mage I haven't even thought up of yet. I planned on making a image later that includes this familiar in it advising the mage. But I'm usually very lazy and school is about to start so that might never happen :] *edit* Just noticed that the left hand has one finger too many :P |

Heh, that's almost cute looking. Almost. Reminds me of an onion. The lines look to big for how large the drawing is, and thusly gives a sense of it being small and there being a lost opportunity for you to put more detail in. The coloring is quite nice, though. I like that secondary blue light. What would really add more contrast to this is if you had some flaming orange highlights. The warm highlights you have are leaning towards yellow (which doesn't contast as well with blue), are kind of washed-up, and are on the rim of his body. There's nothing wrong with that, but seeing as the blue is already on the one rim, it might be more interesting if the warm main light was hitting him more in front. Also, watch your saturation values. Increasing a color's tendency towards white (and brightness) makes it lose its saturation, and therefore vibrancy. But granted; the red is already quite saturated. Experiment with contrast, all in hue, saturation, and luminosty, between your shadows, midtones and highlights. Keep at it. I like what I see. |

Carebear: Yes, it's very true that the hands look rather weird. I've always had a bit trouble with hands and feet. Definetly need to do more practise in those areas :) And if you look at his left hand you'll notice that the thumb is actually on the wrong side of the hand :P Thanks. Ogre: Thanks for all the pointers. I've liked coloring ever since I first did it and these tips are more than welcome. Also thanks for the encouragement. :] |
