ok, i have an animation problem thats probably easy to fix, but i dont know how =P. I'm using 3dsmax 6 and when i attach models to the bones, i hafta split it up into different pieces to link them to the bones. is that the best way to do it? anyway, my problem is i cant keep the pieces connected, so when i move the bones, the model comes apart. Does anyone know how to keep the model connected as one piece while using multiple bones? |

When you animate the model will be broken up, the wc3 engine fills in the gaps. |

well, i'll be honest, i'm not making a model for wcIII, i was just asking here because i know you guys know a lot about this stuff. will all (or most) engines connect the stuff automatically? |

Hmm the only engines I am familar with are wc3 and Ut 04, but most first person shooters ex halo us bones and skin envelopes mainly for the extra level of detail, but rts use simpler animation methods because detail is hard to see, I used to tinker with aom and I think they made a new model and edited the vertexs, kind of like a gif the image changes, but don't hold my word on it. |
