because I got a tablet now!!!!! WOOOO!! Ok, so after setting it up and stuff and fiddling for an hour or so, I came up with this cutie. ![]() There's something wonky about the foreshortening on the arm on our left, but whatever. I like it. EDIT and I never thought I'd be drawing in these colors... o_O |

People think that its immediately easy to use a tablet and you can paint anything with no trouble, but they too require some time to work with and get used to. Some people are just as good, and sometimes better with a mouse, so I hope everyone doesnt think that a tablet is absolutely necessary. The only thing that they are really missing out on is the pressure sensitivity. |

Cool, tablets are great. I think even if you did practise with the mouse it wouldn't feel as natural with all the brush strokes. No scanning though? That's quite a commitment. |

You will scan again, trust me. there are places that you can't take and use a tablet. But congrats, and very nice work. |

I prefer using a tablet for drawing now. It's just so much easier than the regular pencil and paper. Less messy, no eraser shavings, no smudges. ctrl+z is a lifesaver. I can create some really interesting strokes. I also like the way my sketches come out. And to anyone else who's getting a tablet, 4x5 is BIG. Don't be daunted by the seemingly small dimensions. It's huge. |

That went off on a tangent, but really, there are awesome artists who use photoshop only, or painter only, or both. It's just a matter of preference I think. |

I think most EXCEPTIONAL artists use both. And some use some weird programs like OpenCanvas which idunno about... and what do they mean in FREEHAND THINGS... |

Hah, classic. Anyways, good show on getting a tablet. I must concur with the opinion that a tablet doesn't make the artist instantly better. However, it certainly makes everything much more convenient. Somebody once said "Drawing with a mouse is like painting with a brick." It doesn't really make a difference what program you use. Painter isn't better than Photoshop, necesarily. I mean, look at Craig Mullins, he who uses exclusively Photoshop. But I've seen a lot of people who can do just as well or better with Painter. It's attributed to the talent and skill of the user, not the program. The picture isn't bad, especially if it's one of your first with the tablet. The foreshortening is strange, but that head is huge. Not bad at all; I await more of your works. |

Yeah, it's the artist not the program. Anyways.... fiddling more. I'm trying bodies in perspective, which is pretty damn hard to get looking convincing. ![]() ![]() |
