I heard theres a way to change the color of particles from particle emmitters using just notepad, is that true?

yes. Why don't you go into the mdl forum or use the search feature to find out more information about the mdl format (which can indeed be edited in notepad).

Playing with the mdl format is not difficult, and can be very rewarding, but there IS a bit of a learning curve (learning how to work with mdl files, how to create them, etc), even for simple things such as altering an emitter.
