Well I wasn't sure where I should post this, but for every campaign or mod or anything, you have to get a team assembled, so i figured I'd post it here, and if this isnt the right place, I'd appreciate if you kindly told me where I should be posting this. Anyway, before I get into details on this mod/campaign idea, i'd like to say that in all honesty there is little to nothing I could do for it beyond designing. I've learned in the past that generally its hard to run something like this without any skills of your own, so i dont care if i have little to no leadership in this mod, just so long as it gets done . So, first I'm going to post up all of the stuff that would be added in this mod, then after this i'll make a post with the prototype story for the mod. Ok so for all the things that would be added... New menu's and opening screen and all that jazz. A few new units, upgrades, items, and maybe a building or two for each race. New creeps and neutral buildings, as well as three new neutral heroes: rurouni ninja (explained in the next post), draenei elder sage (or whatever akama was called), and a gnome hero. New campaigns for (most likely) every race, as if it were an expansion. A new race, the Crusaders (aka the Osirians, more info in next post). Sub-races. Using the 'race selection' system i've seen used in other maps and stuff, you could choose between: Pandarens, Demons, Forsaken, Goblins, Ogres, Draenei, Rurouni, and Gnomes. When you choose a subrace, you get the builder for that race, which can build one building. That building would have one hero (different from their tavern counterpart), two units, and the builder unit, in case the first one dies. You would get the chance to choose a subrace when you upgrade to tier 2, and a second one when you upgrade to tier 3. So for right now that is all that I can think of, this can be added/subtracted/changed later, assuming tht I get a team of people willing to join. Anyway, I'm gonna start writing up the introduction story for the campaign as far as what it is about and stuff, it may take me awhile, but please give it a chance it's a really good idea and I really wanna make this happen. |

The history of the Crusaders: Thousands and thousands of years before the first warcraft, the burning legion, led by Sargeras the corrupt Titan, conquered many planets, destroying everything in their path. They would corrupt any valuable creatures they could, and move on, becomming stronger and stronger. Eventually, they discovered a planet known as Ronin. Ronin was similar to the planet that warcraft takes place, it had a variety of climates, large landmasses and giant oceans, and a large and diverse group of life. The legion, realizing the potential in the creatures of this planet, decided to corrupt one creature from each of the three continents. The first continent was investigated by Tichondrious, the Dread Lord. Tichondrious scoured the entire continent, and eventually decided that the dominant race were the creatures known as the Rurouni. The Rurouni were the fairly small in comparison to the other humanoid members of the legion (about the size of humans), and their nomadic lifestyle limited their abilities, but even still they had a wonderful sense of architecture, and were brilliant weapons designers. The Rurouni lived in tribes, and in each tribe there would generally only be one occupation. However, each tribe would interact with the others, so that they all recieved what they needed. Occasionaly they would fight, sending their samurai into battle, or hiring ninjas to kill off important people, but they were usually peaceful. Tichondrious first met with the tribe of architecture, realizing their buildings would be their most valuable skill. He offered them strength beyond their imagine so that they could create buildings that would otherwise be impossible, and he would make them thrice as smart, allowing them to advance their architecture and give up their nomadic ways. The Rurouni, like humans, were very susceptable to greed, and fell for Tichondrious' trap easily. Tichondrious used his warlock magic to give them knowledge of chaotic magic and other such things to help improve their architecture, while also making them bloodlusted and corrupt. He then turned their skin to bronze, allowing them to increase the productivity of their achievements. This new tribe, now calling themselves the Osirians, bloodlustedly attacked all of the other tribes, and both the samurai and ninja armies fell quickly to the Osirians. Only a few tribes remained, staying in hiding from the Osirians. The second continent was investigated by Mannaroth the Pit Lord, and Archimonde the Eredar Warlock. The two demons watched as a war between two powerful races occured. The first were the Rurouni, similar to the Rurouni of the first continent. The second race was the Manticores, giant lions with scorpion tails. Originaly the Rurouni were no match for the Manticores, however, as time went on, the Rurouni developed weapons that allowed them to fight off, and even take an advantage, over the Manticores. The Manticore were a proud people, but their lack of a humanoid body disabled them from building towers and creating weapons. The two demon lords realized this was their perfect opportunity. They approached the Manticores, offering to create for them humanoid bodies so that they could create weapons to fight off the Rurouni. The manticore were intelligent, and knew that the demons were up to something, but they had no choice, and they agreed. First archimonde used his warlock magics to change the bodies of the Manticore, so that they were giant, furry humans, with a lion head and a scorpion tail. Then Mannaroth gave them his blood, so that they would become bloodlusted and more powerful than ever before. The new creatures, known as the Sphinx', used their new powers to crush the Rurouni, until, just like the first continent, only a few tribes remained in hiding. The final continent was investigated by Kil'Jaedan, the most powerful of the Eredar Warlocks. It was easy for him to discover the dominant race of this continent. They were Rurouni by day, and wolves by night. They called themselves the Lycanthropes. The lycanthropes were much more aggressive than the Rurouni, and were even more susceptable to corruption by the legion. Unlike the Rurouni, the tribes of the Lychanthropes were constantly at war, though the 'victor' usually only lasted so long before being attacked again. Kil'Jaedan searched for the 'underdog' tribe, the one who currently held the least power. Kil'Jaedan offered them a way to be both man and wolf at once, and twice as powerful as either one. The underdog tribe easily accepted. Using his warlock magics, Kil'Jaedan first bronzed their skin by day, turning them into Osirians. By night, he changed their wolfen form into a less hairy, thinner, black dog, known as a Jackel. Then, at the moment in between night and day, Kil'Jaedan fused their two forms together, turning them into jackel-men, which he named the Anubites. The anubites, being capable of great strength while at the same time holding some humanity to stay in control, and to create buildings and weild weapons, easily whiped out the all of the other lycanthrope tribes. The demons then created dark portals on each continent linking to the others, each race still war-hungry. First the Sphinx reached the Osirians. Due to both races corruption, they warred at first, however they soon grew to like eachother, realizing they had much to gain by an alliance. The Osirians were brilliant architects and had much more intracite hands, allowing them to create greater societies for the Sphinx, and the Sphinx brute strength was much better for protecting the Osirians than wasting as much time on weapons technology. It took the Anubites longer, but eventually they met up with the new alliance. Just as had been done before, the alliance and the Anubites warred, but the Osirians realized that the sheer numbers, and stealthy capabilities of the Anubites would be valuable for the Alliance's plan. The Anubites were reluctant to join, only because they realized they could not afford to continue a war with this alliance; to this day the Sphinx and the Anubites greatly dislike eachother. The legion, having assembled the three races, decided it was time to bring them into the legion, but at the last minute Sargeras stopped the other demon lords. He decided that these creatures had great potential on their own, and it'd be better to let them advance their technology and society on their own. Sargeras realized that this alliance was potentially even more powerful than the current legion. Meanwhile, without interruption, the alliance was constantly advancing. They even re-created the legions dark portals, sending them to random planets across the galaxy. The alliance now called themselves the crusaders, because they traveled from planet to planet across the galaxy, doing just as the legion had done, taking whatever was useful, and killing everyone else. With time, the Crusaders began to lose their bloodlust, it had been thousands of years, and they became peaceful. They still conquered planet after planet, they would allow all non-intelligent lifeforms to live, and they would keep the ecosystems fairly intact. This was perfect for the remaining Rurouni tribes, who would settle in to the abandoned planets and take over as the dominant species. Originally the crusaders attempted to stop this, but the Rurouni bravely and skillfully held off against the Crusaders, and eventually the Crusaders gave up, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two societies. The Crusaders continued like this for thousands of years, until one day, the legion returned. This was after Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, and almost the entire legion was destroyed, Kil'Jaedan being the only surviving demon lord. Kil'Jaedan returned, and was instantaneously amazed at what he discovered. The Crusaders were easily more powerful than the legion had ever been, with technology that in many ways far surpassed that of the gnomes and goblins. Despite it having been over 10,000 years, the Osirians had kept up with their history quite well, and realized Kil'Jaedan was the creator of the Anubites. Kil'Jaedan took advantage of his 'god-like' position, and ordered the crusaders to attack the planet that held the creatures who nearly destroyed the legion. The Crusaders were reluctant to do it at first, however Kil'Jaedan bribed them by explaining the technologies of the goblins and gnomes, and of the power that the humans, orcs, night elves, and all the other races of the planet held, even of the scourge and the forsaken. At this point, the Crusaders were excited, and followed Kil'Jaedans portal to the planet. They reached the planet, however they were at the far north, in a cold climate. Cold climates had always been a weakness of the Crusaders, their homeworld Ronin had only one cold area, which they never invaded (explaining how the Rurouni managed to survive early on). Fortunatly, the Crusaders discovered a race of spider creatures who were willing to help in teaching the Osirians what was necessary to survive in the cold, so they could build shelters that were proper for the climate. In return, these spider creatures, known as the nerubians, asked that they help destroy the scourge, which had killed and corrupted a large portion of the nerubian society not long ago. The Osirian warlocks used their magic to turn the Nerubians Carapace to gold, and their skin red with demonic power, and the Osirians also used their technology to increase the power of many of the Nerubians wings, giving them flight. These two new breeds of Nerubians were renamed the Scarabs. ******************** Well that is pretty much everything leading up to where the campaign would take place. in the next post, i'm going to create a basic techtree and a gameplay summary page, similar to whats on battle.net. |

Introduction- After that last post, i dont think this part is necessary . Racial identity- The Crusaders possess the by far most powerful defense. They have well balanced armies with moderate ranged and air, but mostly relying on stealth and strategic melee. Advantages- Plasma Shields: Almost every non stealth or non scarab unit (and/or building) is equipped with a plasma shield, giving the crusaders a great advantage over their opponents. Laser Technology: Almost every plasma shield equipped building can be upgraded with a laser gun, and the laser equipped tier-one ranged unit has the farthest range and highest damage of all tier-one ranged units. Stealth Technology: The Osirians have developed cloaking devices and other forms of stealth enhancers, mostly used by the 'built for stealth' anubites. Imagine attacking an opponent from the inside :). |

I've gave a run through your few posts, and I already forgot about 90%. Not, that is uninteresting, I just got a bad memory. Anyway, I clearly skipped a lot of sentences reading on my fastest speed. So, I guess I'll rephrase what I'll say later on. Anyway, I saw the name 'Tichonderius' and 'Kil'Jaeden' in the 'story' post. Well... I'll get back to this. You're planning of a new sort of 'expansion' you said? Not a good idea, people start out too big. You said yourself that you have barely any skills, this seals your faith. You cannot start out a project while doing about nothing of it at all. Learn some skills and maybe come back here. It's hard enough to make campaig... rather, project with high skills, and you want to start multiple campaigns with barely any skills? Too overconfident if you ask me. About your 'story' post. People might not be very interested in something that will be told what happened BEFORE the original stories. Or at least, I wouldn't be interested, that would be a fact. Rurouni eh? Why does that sounds so familiar ;) You might have watched 'something' too much ;) Sorry, but you caught me right now in a very bad mood, this post has nothing to do with my mood btw. For others, yes, Fladian here can get in a bad mood once in a while too... bad enough to do several stuff... I'll rewrite some stuff later if I'll feel any better. Sorry if anything came on offensive. -Fladian |

Well as far as the rurouni go, no its not from watching kenshin. Rurouni in japanese means wanderer, and the rurouni in the story are supposed to be a japanese culture, but nomadic, so they are wonderers, hence the name rurouni :). As far as the long story goes, unlike most of what ive been seeing around here, i like to take pride and effort into a creative and interesting story (since there really isnt that much else i can do as far as this goes). And on to that, i understand why that hurts me, but like i said i honestly dont care if i am not even really on the team, or not the leader anyway, i'd rather have someone with skills do it. But every campaign does need a writer, so i could still be able to write, beta test, and work with concept and designing. Also, nearly everything I mentioned is possible I know for a fact, and some of it I could probably do if i really learned how, such as the subraces stuff. And also, why dont you like to have the information about before the campaign? I mean you can't expect to have a full campaign story written all out all ready, that can happen when we get started and are working. This was meant as a background history for the race so the campaign makes sense, just like what blizzard did with the night elves and the orcs and all that, if blizzard does it, why shouldnt I. Yes I realize this is going to be hard, and take a very long time, but I really think it deserves a chance to happen, ive seen worse ideas take action. And finally, its cool with the bad mood, we all get it sometimes, but you really shouldnt post if u know you are in a bad mood >.>. |

Rurouni means wanderer? Ahhh... I see, thank you for learning me something new :D The story is... well... I just don't like stories that has been based on either games, books or movies. Even if it is Warcraft, with some exceptions. (I am very fond on Lord of the Clans as example) Anyway, I have been learned that most project leaders should take quite responsiblilety and pressure on their shouders, meaning that they have to offer a lot of work themself. Without you being able to do *anything* except story, concept art and beta-test, it is surely not enough. I'm a very creative guy as well, I can think of a story in no time at all, ask Joho or Disabledjew if you do not believe me here. (Reinless should know it well enough too) So, I know what you mean with having ideas, but not the skills of making them. Just try and learn some things before starting a large project such as this. It happens too often that people with barely any skills start a project that is *way* too large for them. I can know that well enough, I'm already sticking to wc3c forums for quite some time and I did myself too :P Maxfax, I never claimed I do not like information of the campaign before it, as a matter of fact I have nothing against it at all. I never said that I didn't like it either. Anyway, like before, there are people who wants to start projects without a story (Give a search to "I need a story" or something similar) though that is not the topic here. But still, I am not fond on the Warcraft history... mostly, so I am absolutely not fond on the entire Warcraft campaigns or mods. But still, that is my opinion, and not everyone should have the same. Yes, well, when you realize that, why don't you try and do some stuff yourself first? Too many people start out so large and fail miserbly. I sticked to this forum as a member to keep people from that problem, they might hate me for it, but I don't care the slightest. Now that I am a mod, nothing will change in my eyes. You might think it deserves a chance, personally I see it as a over-confiden too-large project again. True enough that worse ideas have taken place, but I can not claim this as a 'good' idea. Yeah, well, it doesn't happen too often that I'm in a bad mood. Mostly people here know me as a cheery person anyway. At least, people who know me longer then a few days :P Anyway, I took the responsibility that I explained before of stopping too-large projects and a lot of other stuff so if I'm in a bad mood, it won't stop me, if I'm sick, it won't stop me, if I'm on camp it won't sto... err... that *will* stop me :P Anyway, I usually find a way to get back. I'll always think of something. So, if I'm in a bad mood or not, I keep on posting, just... the posts won't come out as nice as usual. Thank you for your time -Fladian |

Well everything you are saying is fair enough i guess. And also, trust me I know what happens when you try running a mod with no skills, and it ended up falling apart. I was the leader to a mod called Dark vengeance a long long time ago on warcraftiii.net, and it was a great idea, and we even had some quality art and such down, but it ended up falling apart because I couldn't really do anything and neither could anyone else, so they all got pissed at me and it just sorta died :(. Thats why I wanted to just possibly have little to no involvement, as in not the mod leader, i just wanted to see it happen. I wasn't really expecting this to come easily, in fact I was expecting it to become more or less like this, but I figure'd i'd give it a try, just writing up these outlines are fun :), even if it is aggravating seeing them go nowhere. Also, I'd love to learn how, but I'm not a good self-teacher, I usually need someone there to teach me how (though as long as I do have a teacher to help me, I learn pretty well). Also, im in my sophomore year of high school so I've got A LOT of work ahead of me for the next two years, and summer just ended (and this was my last 'free' summer), so I really don't have the time to learn how to do anything of value anyway, i barely even have enough time to play. |

Well, its a very good idea but i agree with Fladian thats it dont sounds like that you and MANY others dont have the skills to make this, and you have seen to much of everything Manticores = Greek Mythology ANubits = Egeyptian Mythology but it was a really good idea and good writted (no writting fails good job ) but for now i think there is need for too much skills. With my greatest respect good idea and i hope the poject will come up and running a day :8 ufo ![]() |

Quote:
Anyway, I started a project out (a long time ago) with no skills on my own, just a little bit of terraining. It was before the upgrade of wc3c and more... kind people were left. People such as Jester of Death or Lizard of time weren't here yet. That was the greatest times... the mood it had, it was great. Being as a mod of this section, I am forcefully trying to regain that mood, even if it is just for this part of the forum... and I got a bit of success. For how long is the question, I'm at the point of leaving the forum. Anyway, many people hate it (including myself) when people give an idea but are not willing to work on it. People see it as: "Hey, this is my idea, I want someone to make while I'm gonna lay back and see what happens". That's why people usually see it as a bad thing. Ufo is still new out here, he's not been here as long as I am as example. Maxfax, I just graduated from my senior years, on my 18th year. I fell in love with someone that was out of my reach and I am willing to go on with my fight. Not to mention starting on a new school, at least 30 min to an entire hour of traveling to my new school, I don't really got too much time on my hands either, but I'm still spending a lot of time on the forum. So, you are not *that* different from me, believe it. I just got a lot of more work to do. If you are interested, if I got some luck coming start (the first, sixth or seventh) of September, then I am leaving this forum permanently. I am not planning of returning (ever) either. - so for anyone who doesn't like me (such as Void or Oda) you might have some luck :P Long time no see Ufo... Anyway, I re-read the story and to be honest... I'm not fond on it at all. Not my style perhaps... I'm a poem/story writter myself, so I know a thing or two ;) ...*sigh* 8 more days... just 8 more... -Fladian |

NOOO Fladian you must not leave us! Without you this forum will be pure chaos! AAARGGH ITS ufo NOt Ufo!!! Fladian you are kinda driving me mad :P anyways Fladian the "Before guys like Jester_of_Death" mini-story sounded a little like those movies little childs see where a fox and a dog was friends but the dog becomes a hunter :D. and i am sure that over half of the people in the world hates guys who says "hey, im leader of this i have no skills but whatever i can get everytime for now you there can make everything while i relax and get some cola, oh and now im on it i want 100,000,000,000 custom models else you all will be fired" or kinda that ufo ![]() |

Sorry, but I made up my mind. By the time I'll leave there will be a thread of mine here in the Team Gathering forum, my signature will announce it too. Don't worry, someone will come in my place to keep this place clean ^^ Sorry UfO, but I like making fun of names :P Not to mention that I got a memory of headless pig that learns maths when it comes to names. It's that you got a simple name Ofu. (Tofu...? Nah...) Err... well, it is just that the mood was a lot better before the upgrade. Ask Ice Knight or any other member that joined this forum around the time I joined too. Anyway, though I would hate to say it, you're right ufO, it is true that a lot of people say that. I want to make a change in that though, that's also the reason why I'm not liked by many (Reminds myself of a quote "I prefer to be liked by many... girls that is") Anyway, I got some stuff to take care of now. I'll be back later. -Fladian |

well i dont think it is the right thread to post this but we are allready gone into something like it. Fladian your reputaition is "Fladian is a highly respected member of WC3c" that is not right it should have been "Fladian is the fucking most repsected meber of WC3c all you others just go home" Dance |
| 08-25-2004, 06:20 PM | #13 |
Ufo, I'm only respected here in the Team Gathering forum ;) People don't know me in any other part of the forum. This is also better fit as a PM next time. About the rep. system, don't take much heed to it. Most of it is not really right anyway ;) |
| 08-25-2004, 08:09 PM | #14 |
Too bad you are leaving, you seem like the type of guy I'd have liked if i knew u better >.>. Anyway, see ya i was thinking like ufo, that people wouldnt like me running a mod with no skills, and at the same time I understand how people wouldnt like me just saying my idea and expecting someone else to do it for me, its just that I already tried one way a long time ago so i figured it was due time to try the other :). And ufo, thanks for the complements, it actually wasn't too well written in my opinion, though i tried to at least make it bearable so that you could appreciate the actual story of it :). And also, about the manticores and all that... the idea was that the Crusaders were many cultures, who became one, which was based off egyptian culture. The rurouni were based off of a sort of japanese/native american, and they became the osirians which were meant to be the Egyptians. The lycanthropes were based off... I think lycanthrope was originaly a french myth but I'm not entirely sure on that; point is that then they became anubites, based off the egyptian god anubis. Then finally the manticores who were supposed to be greek scorpion/lion things, then they become the Sphinxes, based off the sphinx of egyptian mythology. The sphynx had the face of a human and the body of an animal, but my sphynxs have the bodies of humans and the faces of lions. So it all works out :). |

Hey, hey, I'm not leaving yet ;) The month isn't finished yet. I'll be leaving if I got some luck at the start of the next month. If I will have... bad luck - which I don't hope for - then I'll be sticking around once again. You will get to know me better then anyway ;) To be honest, I don't hope that I will have "bad luck" that day and I may finally leave this forum. Though I like the forum it's just impossible to deny a dream that may become reality... Like I said before, people here are not very fond on people who start a project out with no skills on their own. Maybe they didn't mind it at the other site, they do mind it here. You did quite some research for some stuff to make it, didn't you? Or was it just things you picked up here and there (not as offense meant)? |
