a while ago, i started making a races mod that not only added 5 races, Naga, Fel Orcs, High elves, Corrupted Night Elves and Goblins, but it also addressed some issues i thought the game had interms of balancing, various things like that. while these tests have gone well, iwonder if there's any way that you can tell Warcraft to be able to select more than the 4 stardard races, or whether this was hard-coded to the game. so, instead of; Humans Orcs Undead Night Elves the drop down menu would read; Humans Orcs Undead Night Elves Fel Orcs High Elves Corrupted Night Elves Naga Goblins can any of you help me, i'm by no means a modding n00b, but i am with Warcraft! failing the ability to select custom races from the menu, how could you use triggers like in 'hero arenas' using wisps, to select a race ingame? any thanks is much appriciated Draec. |

If you mean while in game waiting area, selecting your race. Thats just cant be done to my knowledge. Unless you aquired the source code for Wc3 and re configured it. As for campaigns, i think you could get away with adding a campaign for each race but i dont think thats what u want. |

You can add new names to the Racial drop-down list by editing one of the core UI FDFs, but you can't actually make them do anything. Sorry. |

Garona, thanks, but it's a multiplayer mod, not SP, i don't have that much free time ;) well, i thought it'd be hardcoded :( if anyone knows anything at all about triggers, and how to make them spawn in a random predefined location with 5 worker units, then that'd be appriciated i'm guessing this should be in the 'trigger help' section eh lol |

You could simply make all the dropdown menus stuck at Human (or anything but "Selectable") and have a menu pop up (like the difficulty menus in TDs) asking which race the player would want to be...then giving them the appropriate townhall + peon (or just peon) in their starting place...this also allows more than the 4 races, as you could make triggers for as many different peons as you want...(since every race starts with a peon, the peon represents the entire race...) oh, and this would make it work in multiplayer... |

Astrall's idea sounds like a good idea, since you can't have more than 4 races in the dropdown. |
