This story is still a work in progress. It was written by PaulH for the War of the Races mod. _________________________________________________________________ Tyfis sat silently in the dense undergrowth, listening. The forest was as it is supposed to be, peaceful and quiet. Yet those words hadn't meant anything to him for as far back as he could remember. He slowly looked to the right, his sharp eyesight barely seeing the dark shadows that came to rest inline with himself. He smiled a rare smile as his agile warriors ready themselves for this raid against their hated and vile enemy. Again he turned towards the camp, waiting for the sun to finish setting, at that moment they would strike. Looking through the undergrowth he saw how few were armed and on lookout. Many were sitting around a huge green fire, resting. Even the trees themselves seemed to bend over to feel the warmth it gave out. He glanced towards the setting sun seeing it finally go out of sight bar a few stray strands of fire that stayed in the sky. It was now time. He cupped his hands to his face, and made a short, yet clear birdcall. The signal had been sounded. it was time for vengence. His warriors rushed forward, drawing their weapons as they went. To his right, he could see some of his men changing form as they ran, and above him a large creaking sound was following the ambushers. Suddenly they burst into the bright camp slaying all who stood in their way, those with weapons were as easily dispatched as those without. Tyfis was a whirlwind of destruction as he took down the leaders personal guard. Yet the enemies leader was yet to be seen. He stopped searching the camp, seeing his warriors being torn apart by huge trees, while large creatures were ripping through those who opposed them. He then heard the words, that filled him with awe and fear. "Elunes save us, qualifonilina," shouted the priestess of the moon over the screams of the dying. White orbs formed in the sky and they rained down upon his satyr warriors killing many instantly. His line was breaking, it was almost over, and he couldnt fail his lord. Calling upon the demon soul trapped within him Tyfis charged at the priestess knocking her off of her nightsabre and killing the giant cat in the same blow. The spell had ended but she had not, she drew a spider blade from her back and lunged at the Avenger. He parried her blows but couldnt best her. He could see she was tiring so using his cunning her tripped her as she went for a killing blow, she fell, landing on her back, her helmet slipping from her face. It was then he realised who it was, it was his lover from before the destruction of the well and his change. She couldnt tell if it was him, but a variety of emotions entered his head. She lay on the ground breathing heavily, her chest rising high from her deep breaths. He once again considered her beautiful, and he was utterly confused. He picked her up in his arms and turned back towards his camp, taking her to her fate... Her eyes slowly opened and she was greeted by searing pains in her arms and shoulder. She also felt the tight grip of rope binding her hands and feet. She could feel the armour still on her body yet it was not as tight as it had been before. The priestess looked down, and through her still blurry vision she saw the large slice that ripped through the delicately forged armour. Lucky for her it only scratched the skin beneath. As her vision slowly reappeared she became more aware of the place she was in, also the other senses followed and she was horrified, she knew exactly where she was. She was in the heart of the Nights Dawn clan. One of the main clans of her hated enemy, the Satyrs. She spat on the dusty ground next to her at the thought of her twisted brethren. As she listened she heard the bestial sounds that they made, probably as they roasted her party. The thought sicken her and she spewed violently, collapsing, and breathing heavily as her world drifted to darkness. |
