It is a tricky one... Anyways after spending a good hour or two creating abilities, I hit a dead end as my custom "Engineering Upgrade" fell flat on it's face durning a test run . Has anyone successfully created a custom version of Engineering Upgrade that modifies other custom abilities? I've run a few ideas through my head and I just don't think that any of them would be of any use. Any feedback would be appreciated. |

I have. What seems to be the problem? I think I got an idea as to what it could be, so; - Make 4 versions of your custom skill. Name them Skill1_1, Skill1_2, Skill1_3 and Skill1_4. - Give your hero Skill1_1. - On the first level of your custom engineering ability, make Skill1_2 replace Skill1_1. - On the second level of your custom engineering ability, make skill1_3 replace skill1_2. - On the third level of your custom engineering ability, make skill1_4 replace skill1_3. That's all there is to it. |

i tried playing with engineering upgrade, just playing - not expecting much... it blew up in my face, lol it was hilarious... i had immolation castable on targets and frost armor used like immolation. what i did was make 2 sets of three abilites Cold - Blizzard - Frost Armor - Evasion Hot - Rain Of Fire - Immolation - Critical Strike then i had 2 engineering upgrade abilites... one called Cold and another called Hot. Hot replaces the cold abilities with hot and itself with cold and vise versa. now i made it so that your hero begins with the cold abilites and the "hot" upgrade. when they learn it, it changes over ok... but the problem is... you cant change back - and when you use the abilities thart changed over, they cast their alternate but keep the icons. |

You made Immolation castable on units? Autocast? From frost armor? o_O Did it work? An autocast lightning-shield skill would be sweet. I never thought of using the Engineering Upgrade like that.. |

Heh, Engineering upgrade blew into my face when fiddling with it as well. For some reason, when learning the upgrade to level 3, one of my skills dissapeared and all I got was the green square of death. Because I already had the effect I wanted triggered (from the times before patch 1.16), I just scrapped the whole thing and went back to using 9 unit abilities with dummy casters. |

Okay after reading all this, I gave it another run and failed yet again. I'm now curious if what I'm doing is even possible. Anyhoo, I'll give you guys a run down of what I'm trying to accomplish: I'm basically taking Rexxar's Summon Misha ability and trying to amplify it with a Custom Engineering Upgrade (Like for every level you invest into the Upgrade, the creature you summon gains a HP bonus or whatever). I made the four variations of the custom ability as Grey suggested, each one summoning the creature with the bonus added with the coresponding Engineering level, applied them to the custom Engineering ability annnnnnnd, I still get nothing... . I'm quite sure I added them to the custom Engineering correctly so I don't think that's the problem. Is the summoning ability missing a few things that I'm not aware of, or is this unholy union of skills not supposed to be? |

Ho hum. Well, have you ran a test first? Because if your misha ability has 4 levels, you'll need 4x4 = 16 different bears. Misha_Level1_Engineer0 Misha_Level1_Engineer1 Misha_Level1_Engineer2 Misha_Level1_Engineer3 Misha_Level2_Engineer0 Misha_Level2_Engineer1 Misha_Level2_Engineer2 Misha_Level2_Engineer3 Misha_Level3_Engineer0 Misha_Level3_Engineer1 Misha_Level3_Engineer2 Misha_Level3_Engineer3 Misha_Level4_Engineer0 Misha_Level4_Engineer1 Misha_Level4_Engineer2 Misha_Level4_Engineer3 |

My bad actually. I'm using Rexxar's Summon Misha, yes. I forgot to mention I'm only using three levels of it. And yes, I do have the estential 12 bears needed. Now I'm trying to think of any other details I left out... |

something tells me i know what Phoenix is planning... To see if using Engineering Upgrade can create grotesque hybrid spells?!?!?! ^_^ can you say AUTOCAST FLAMESTRIKE anyone?!?!?! Passive Shockwave/chain lightning/etc!?!?!? ^_^ god i hope ur right!! as for the nature of this *possible* phenomenon...Maybe it's switching out the ability effects while retaining the original spell's hardcoded targeting/command string. If so.........daaaaaaamn ![]() |

Umm.. I can easily make passive shockwave/chain lightning spells. Without triggering. Or engineering upgrade. :) |

Heh, I'll try that when I get home. :P Orb of Lightning custom skills are awesome. I have a number of 'em in my map; 'Archons Hero Survival - Emerald'. they always work like a charm. |
