Comment on Art Gallery

The Art Gallery is a really great idea but one thing that pisses me off alot is the fact that the terrain and scenery got combined, there's a big difference between making a shot amazing and just for looks compared to making something realistic with detail that looks real, it pisses me off that some pictures have like 10 doodads and fog and they get a 5 and then I have detailed terrain with nice tile placement, good positioning of doodads and enviromental objects and I get a 3?

Adding fog to a picture takes NO SKILL, TIME or EFFORT WHATSOEVER.

Frame it and hang it on a wall.

DungeonM, your terrain could get a public rating of a 1 and still be just as good as someone's with a 5. People vote on what THEY think look good, as such, they're entitled to their own opinion. So please, don't whine about it, instead, look at as a reason to hone your skills and get a better rating on your next piece.

the masses do not care how complicated the said work is, they want it to look good to them. you can't blame them.

Makes sense in this world, the people who work hard and put alot of effort into their work get nothing and the people who are fucking bums on the street get all the free money.

Yeh so your saying if I want a 10 I put down a few doodads and turn on the fog? I could get a 10 by their standards but then I wouldn't earn it all I did is use some cheap map effect that takes 10 seconds to setup.

as soon as you like you work you don't need rating and you don't need to do something.

Fog and doodads take no skill apparentally but it needs good taste to know where to put them.

And why doca said this was closed?

People don't know how to use fog they just put a ton on and it looks crappy and people think it looks nice, fog should be used in conjunction with background doodads and should show their outline not just instant fog. People use fog to hide things because they don't want people to know there's nothing behind it.



She likes to feel special and powerful and close a topic when she thinks she's right while it's still being debated.
