When trying to import an MDX into 3dMAX using the correct plugin, I get this error. Quote:
Whats wrong with the model? Can I fix it? |

I know nothing about 3dsMax, so please don't be too harsh if what I'm saying is nonsense. I guess the problem is the model hasn't been unwrapped (no T vertices), which should however not be a problem with 3ds I think. You might try to unwrap it and then see if you can import it... Again, it's only what I guess from the text of the error message. |

The file is an MDX from Wc Campaigns, I wanted to use it for a base model. I asumed it should already be unwrapped and ready for import using the Wc plugin. Perhpas the issue is I have not installed Art Tools? However, I was able to import Arthas from ROC... |

Don't know then |

Damnit. Anyone else have a clue? Maybe the creator protected the file from import? |

Why would someone make this ? Can you send me an mdl version of the model, just wanna check something. |

Perhaps they made the file protected because they wouldnt want others alterting thier work. Similar to the protections people use on Wc maps. Anyway, the file is located here: http://www.wc3sear.ch/index.php?p=Models&ID=978&sid= I was hoping to fix up the animations a bit and change the general theme. However I cant get it into 3dsMax in order to spruce it up. |

Oh, heres the MDL. Dont mind the double post. |

Looking at the mdl, I've remembered a bug I had read about a few months ago. It said some mdx models could not be imported in 3dsMax cause the triangles were put in several lists and not in one big list, or something like this. And it was the case with your model. Oinkerwinkle then said opening the model with his vertex modify program and saving would solve the problem. One seems to have to open every geoset and then to save the model each time. I think it might solve your problem, try with this version of the mdl. |

Awsome! Thanks a ton, it worked. Mind explaining exactly what you did for future referance? |

Well, I just opened the model with Oinkerwinkle's Vertex Modify program, chosed to view geoset 1, saved the model, switched to geoset 2, saved, and so on, so that the program fixed the triangles for each geoset (this program can only view one geoset at a time). Happy that it worked, you're lucky I remembered having already seen that bug. |

I get what you did now, thanks a ton. |

You're welcome. Feel free to ask if you need any more help (yet I would probably not be a great help on non-mdl modeling, almost everything I know concerns mdl). |

Heh, thats alright, at least your someone who is willing to help, Ive made like 10 topics about other issues and no one replies, haha. Thank again. |
