This week you will create a waterfall.

Pretty straightforward I think. I was running out of ideas, so I just thought, heck why not. Everyone likes to see a good waterfall.

I don't think photoshoping should be allowed at ALL, because if it was I could make my shots look alot better just by using some simple effects and filters ect.

I'll have a go at it. But how can you run out of ideas when there's so many good suggestions in the brainstorm thread? I was hoping to make an Elemental Plane soon. ^_^

ok, i guess it was a bit over the line with that lens flare, but i must say it looks cool

btw. this is just weekly terraining not a contest of anykind, i would never have used this in a contest since i see that using effects make the pic look way better....

I think I'll have a go at this ;)

Anyway, I think lense flare's a bit too much =P

Well, you gotta admit, the lens flare does make it look pretty. Seeing as this isn't some serious contest, hell it's not a contest at all, it should be ok. Just remember that the focus here is terrain, so if you do want to photoshop your pictures, make sure that it doesn't alter the original terrain.

Nice work wazza. Very peaceful looking.

GreyArchon, I concur. We are already doing another waterfall after a couple weeks when we just did a Waterfall Village not too long ago. There were several ideas I saw in the brainstorming thread that would make better candidates for a better WT than just saying ok lets do a waterfall. I think that because of the purpose of this WT we should have more of a variety of things to terrain. Personally, I haven't liked the last few WT's at all and I just don't feel like doing them anymore especially this one. Hopefully next weeks will be more inspiring.

I'm afraid I feel the same way...

It's so much as to the themes but the atmosphere WT is suppose to present, which is lacking.

I thought the 'Innovative Doodad' week was an excellent theme for WT. The only problem was that no one was being innovative. I think beam was trying to find the next 'tables' or something. I think the real purpose of the WT is to challenge you to make something new and creative, while following a set of old and overused rules. In the 'You are God' week, everyone had some pretty boring 5 minute jobs that could be easily replicated to the pixel. Gitlich came along though and if you looked at his WIP shots, you could see some pretty cool stuff. Look at the sides of his river, or the large tree in the middle of nowhere. This was some pretty cool and unique stuff that I haven't seen before.

The WT has really become a competition to see who can finish their work the fastest. We should start seeing more people submit their work on Friday and Saturday. This is WEEKLY terraining, use that week, not just the first day you see the new theme.

On the topic of using Photoshop in the weekly terraining, it really shouldn't be allowed, how can you truly say that you saw the theme, and used your terraining skills to meet it head on only to come out victorious? You can't! Sure, Wazza's picture looks good now, great even. But I don't believe it would as good without the lens flare. In the picture the lens flare is what adds emotion, it makes the picture, without it, you don't get that dramatic feeling when looking at it.

We should start to use the WT to creating something to the best of our abilities, not variation 1,2, and 3 of the same picture.

Oh stop complaining about the lens flare, there's nothing wrong with using it. It doesn't affect the terrain at all, just the screenshot. Maybe if people around here would learn how to stop obsessing over how good the shot looks rather than the terrain itself they would understand that.

Using altered shots defeats the purpose of making a terrain look good in WE. Plus its not hard at all to make lens flarein photoshop.
