Optimal Sound Quality?

I am aware how to convert, change quality, and edit .mp3 files. The problem is that I do not know an optimal sound resolution for the mp3 files in a warcraft 3 map (for music).

Standard Quality (Good for music)
Stereo 128kbps/44k(sample rate)

If you convert to mono it can be half bitrate, so, that would take us down to 64/44 with same quailty. This is half the size of Stereo but still the same quality per channel.

Take all this into account, and that would give you a bunch of contributing factors into picking a good Bitrate/Samplerate for your WC3 music.

8kbps/8k sounds like garbled trash, so i was thinking somthing along the lines of:
32/22k mono

Please give me and the rest of the community some feedback about what you think an optimal quality would be.

128 kbit 16 bit stereo, period. Anything under it is definatly sounding a lot less good. Besides just base it off the standard mp3s in wc3, wich use that.

PS: Next time don't make 2 threads when you could just use 1.

For FX and voices I use 32Kbps .mp3 mono files. The quality is good enough and the size is greatly reduced. For music I'd recommend minimum 40Kbps, but 60Kbps is really good if you want high quality and the theme is not too long.

One thread is a question, one is a statement.

Anyway,
Mara.Jade, thanks for the reccmondation, but do you (or anyone) know what a good sample rate would be? (44k 22k 11k)

If you use 32kbps as bit rate it will automatically set frequency to 22KHz. Below that, its 11KHz, and 60 (I think) and above, you can have both 32Khz and 44.1KHz.

What you said was way to related besides in the "question" you gave a small summary of the "fact".
