Hey Guys, Been a while since i posted. I was wondering if anyone knew the Frame rate at which characters in warcraft are played at...is it the standard 30, or is it less ? Also, How many Frames do each animation take (roughly) , such as Stand_1 and Stand_2 etc. I suppose once i figure out the frame rate i could figure this out as well, but if anyone knows, the help would be greatly appreciated. Thnx. |

In 3ds max, Blizzard used 24, I think. Once it's in the MDX/L, in case that's what you're asking, it uses 1000 frames per second. |

1000 FPS ??? Are you sure about that ?, that seems verry :o high. |

Hmmm, how the hell does that work ? Im sorry Oinkerwinkle, its not that im doubting you, its just that i dont understand how you can go from 24 FPS to 1000 FPS by conversion where do all those other frames come from ? obviously if theres ony a 2 sec. anim. with 48 frames being played at 1000 FPS The motion would be instantaneous ! What does the compiler do, fill in the gaps ? (so to speak) |

In MDLs and 3ds max, not every frame is filled. There are keyframes positioned along the animation and the object's position is deduced by the game between those keyframes. Attached is an example of a set of keyframes, which could be making up an animation. The grey squares represent keyframes (specifically, the Z value of a movement keyframe). The line between them shows where it would actually be at any given frame. The frames are listed at the bottom, in 24 fps. If this was converted to MDL/X, everything would be the same except the numbers along the bottom would be much larger. |

OK, thats understandable, basically im asking this because im not using Max, im using Lightwave so i need to understand what the Plugin does in order to write my own L-Script To output a model for every frame. Now what youve told me makes this much more difficult :/ |

Someone else told me it was 960 FPS. o_O oh well. |

and ya thats right, you may also set the frames to 960 in custom but i don't know how art tools especified on it so iot depends on what you use |
