Well try using some variation first of all, make mountains and what not and maybe canyon with raise and lower tools. Try staying away from canopy trees, they look a bit odd when you have a bunch of them together like that. Try placing your NE buildings in a manner so they look civilized not random. Try scattering vegatation over the ground in some areas, along with rocks. Add some lanterns, especially NE "Totem Lanterns" by the NE houses. Best why to learn to terrain better is to practice alot. |

its nice, but theres just not enough of it. add somehting life a sweeping forest and mountains in the distance. its not as much work as it sounds, just spam a lot of sclaed down trees, makeing them look further away than they are. aslo, smooth that cliff, its far too angled |

@ Night elf village, I reccomend you scale the buildings up to a real size compared to night elves, also it seems to flat and missing doodads in the areas by the elves. @ Mountain Village, It bseems flat and boring, nothing really exciting is there to see, no intersting texture variation, and it seems to lack hieght variation. Sorry, but feedback is critical, so expect to hear a lot of it. It does look good though, especially for you first. |

I know. I'm going to add hills in the mountain outpost. You know it was like first stage. I'll get screens on up by tommarow. How do I smooth hills though |

To smooth hill you create the hill using the raise terrain tool, then you can either make it more subtle by using the lower terrtain tool all over the ill and having it slowly slope upward , or give it more of a mountain appeal by using the raise tool on the tp of the hill. |

NE Village- I think you need a little more variation, too much canopy tree's may look unrealistic. Just look at any picture of a forest and try to immitate what you see. There are always streams and little cliffs, vary your ground tiles. I suggest the lumpy shit and leaves. They can look awsome if thyre randomed out and you dont use to much of one or the other. Scale the houses so thyre bigger. Farm- Add things around the farm, to make it feel more like a farm. It kind of just looks like a house on a steeply inclined hill :-S . Add things around like a distant mountain, lake or forest. And as far as terraining goes...its not all that easy. Well it is in some ways, like....it takes along time to get used to all the doodads and know what doodads to look for and to use when. Alot of it just takes time....alot of messups and alot less successful maps. Im sure most of us here have well over a dozen unfinished maps that just didnt make it. It takes time and dedication... |
