in the editor guide under the abilities tab, there a line in i think every skill that says "Lightning Effects" There is like a list of 7 or them, but i want to add a custom one, are there specific file paths?

i am thinking what you wuld do is do the same type of think with imporiting custom skins and models, just use the same file path but i cant find the file path for the effects. if you could help me with this problem it would be a great help!

yes, u must overwrite the files with custom effects, the lightning effect .blp's are in ReplaceableTextures\Weather\

Ok, scrap what was said berofe me, this is how to do it:

Get win MPQ.
Open wc3x.mpq
find LightningFx.skl (Or something like that)
Extract it.
Open it up in Exel (Or paint if u dont have Exel)
Look at the ones u want, or make ur own! its not hard to understand... r=red, b=blue etc. chaos is hot "Streaky and jolty" you want it to be.... youll work it out..

Oh! if you want a custom actual effect texture to your lightning then sure, go and import one, but i find it dosent make as much difrence to be worth it.

Good luck!

(P.S. this should be in general development, not triggers ^_^ )

plz have a look under replaceabletextures\weather, all lightning effect skins are there, if u want chain lightning, this is the path: ReplaceableTextures\Weather\Lightning.blp , finger of dead = ReplaceableTextures\Weather\LightningRed.blp, manaburn =
ReplaceableTextures\Weather\ManaBurnBeam.blp
and so on... and so on...

Notice Toot said you have to overwrite an old lightning effect there.

This is the easiest way if you don't wanna keep all existing ones. If you want a new it is more complecated...then you have to extract the file and change it like Garith said.
