Erm, I didn't think it was possible but I really don't see where to change it.. I found the place but the option to use a custom picture or not cannot be used.

Well, a better description here.

Make a image, its size should be either 128x128 or 256x256(preferably 256x256), and then import it into your map, and change the path to:

war3mappreview.tga

Just to clarify things more. ;)

(EDIT!!!)

It actually doesn't work.. ?? Shall I do something after i've imported the file and changed path?

Hey how would you take a screenshot in game (preferably just in the editor) and then turn it into one of those sexy preview screens?

Use Print Screen (or whatever the convoluted Mac combo is) and paste into an image editor program like Photoshop. Save as a 256x256 32-bit-depth targa file and name it war3MapPreview.tga
Import it with the import editor and give it a custom path that has no directory.

Why isn't it working? I got a file named war3mappreview.tga in the Import manager.. Am I totally stupid or is something wrong? :\

lol, if ur using photoshop on this (Or paintshopo, but i dont no if its the same as ive never used it) u need to "flatten" the image first!

This kept me on this problem for DAYS! basically, flattening just makes the alpha channel and the picture one channel so warcraft can read it.

To flatten, just go to Image and go: Flatten image...

i hope thats all thats wrong! Enjoy your preview screens!

I'm still having difficulty. Ive tried a little bit of everything but let me try to get it right.

Can the file be a JPG and then import and make path war3mapPreview.tga?

Or do i make the file war3mapPreview.tga and import it with the path war3mapPreview.tga?

Or am I horribly wrong on something?

You need to have a program that can convert a .jpg to a .tga file. You can't just rename it.

Where can I find a converter? I tried 2 different ones but am too retarded to figure it out right. One file I converted made WC3 crash when the map was selected. Id kill for a Select Preview Screen Image button on WE.

I must be really dumb since I have already spent 2 pissed off hours trying to figure out how to convert a JPG file to a TGA file. All the programs give it a nice little Trial Version print smack dab in the middle of the shot. And i will NEVER pay ANYTHING to get a little picture on my map. Does anyone know and FREE JPG to TGA file converters that a dumbass can use with no problem?

I think Photoshop has a trial version that doesn't leave a visible watermark. You can find it at http://www.adobe.com
