WarCraft 3: The Beginings

Howdy, Ant here. Thought I would bring up my campaign idea for all to crit..

The Beginings would take place almost just before the origonal game, while still using the same world and enviroment. This means little skinning will be needed and probably no modeling.

It will follow the creations of many groups and hero units.

For example:

Thrall's childhood.
For those that don't know/remember, Thrall was raised by the humans, could be fun to folllow.

The creation of the Sorceress' Guild.
After the invention of gunpowder I was thinking that perhaps the Aliance scratched the need for their many female archers. Some got so angry that they left the Aliance, becoming badguys, perhaps getting reborn into the undead witches. The rest were invited to learn the trade of magic with the priests.

Prince Arthas.
Follow him through early childhood, as he was taken under Uther's wing and taught the ways of a Paladin.

Jaina Proudmore.
Same Idea, became head of her class with the rest of the new sorceresses. Ex-Archer hero perhaps.

Kel'Thuzad.
How the Necromancers came to be.

Prince Kael'Thas.
He wouldn't be young would he... immortal and all. Well, we can follow his father perhaps as he governs the High Elves.

Night Elves.
Again, immortal, would need a plot idea for them. Also they wouldn't likely be in Lorderon, so perhaps we addapt their structures to look more like that of the High Elves and advance on them more. I would love to follow the High Elves before they were destroyed.

Anyway, I hope you guys get the idea.
It would be very simple at first, but the purpose would be to show how the Sorcs came to be, when the Gyrocoptor was invented, Thrall being taken in by Humans, etc.

Suggestions, comments, flames, all are welcome.
Just don't flame so badly that they close my thread.

Hey AntJAB,

Many tried to create something that way, but the most gived up quite early. I would like to see your project finished, so, here what i think would be a nice campaign.

Arthas
Arthas is pretty famous... the father-killing-undead-LichKing-idiot. I dont like him well, but it would be a nice idea to show some parts of his paladin training with Uther. Not to close to the beginning at WarCraft III, earlyer.

Or maybe a travel where he first meets Jaina and (probertly) fall in love with here. You can then also show how Arthas and Kael'thas 'fought' for there beloved girl.

Thrall
There are allready enough 'The Lord of the Clans' projects around lad, better leave that behind.

Kel'Thuzad
Same like Thrall. Hundread campaigns around featuring his story, but the most is junk or even never finishes. You can (!) try it, but everybody know how he got under the spell of the Lich-King. Better find something that isnt that famous.

Jaina
Same like Arthas.

Sorceress Guild
I think you got something wrong here. The Elven Archers were part of the alliance, but after the final destruction of the dark portal they returned to Quel'Thalas. Thats why, i think, ther wasnt anything like that situation. Even if the archers lost there... hehe... job, elves arent that delicate to that point. There elves. They got enough magical stuff they can do. So, better forget that. Thats my advice.

Kael'Thas
Thats an idea. Noone heard or seen something about him before the elves turn bloody. The only thing i know is that he loved Jaina just like Arthas and that he lost her love (did he ever had it?). That can mean Jaina and Arthas met him in Quel'Thalas or he was in Dalaran and meet her there... whatever.

Nightelves
Thats an idea. But if you try it, pick a part of there history that isnt allready showed somewhere. Cant see things like 'Illdans revenge after the fight with Arthas' anymore. Maybe the war against the legion 10.000 years ago? You can finde the story here.

Thats it. Good luck, i have an eye on this

I see. I've never done a campaign before, nor have I keapt my eye on ones being put out there.
I'll keep away from Kel'thuzad and Thrall, didn't realize they were so overused.

You're right about the Sorcs, I didn't even think that one through.
I completely forgot they were elves! >.<

Thanks for the feedback Shade...I think I have it now.

I'll follow the love story between Jaina, Arthas, and Kael'Thas.
Throw in some side stories of Artha and Uther.
Could use a bit more maybe... hmm.

Well I'll have alot of time to think over the details.
My comptuer died last night. :(
I think it's the power source, so it will take me a while to replace it.
Sigh.

Thanks again EvilShade!

Time for me to barge in again eh? Let's see...

Well, AntJab, if you would just stick to the story of Arthas, Kael, Uther and Jaina (in one story) then I'd probably approve it and support your project. But by adding more to it and also saying that it is your first project, I must hate to dissapoint you and say that it will probably be too much work for someone with barely to none experience of it. Not saying you're a bad modder, but just the experience of leading a team, or even be in a team is the point.

Personally, I am not fond at any of the stories you gave in your first post, Shade made a nice remark about the Arthas, Jaina, Kael thingy and I would surely would want to see that finished. I am absolutely uninterested in the other parts.

Well, I'd like to write more but I almost fall of my chairs because of the hunger. I'll leave it as this. As long as I'm on this forum I'll see how this goes, but I cannot guarentee my stay longer then next week.

Good luck.

Well, let's see.
I thank you for your honesty, however I would like to point out something.
Though I have never done a campaign, I have done each individual part that belongs in making one. I'm not saying I'm great at all of them, but I have my own strengths and weaknesses.
I was also not talking about gathering a team from here, nor being a team leader. Believe it or not I have real world friends who are also interested in WC3 and also mod it regularly. Several of which are members and contributors to this forum.
What's wrong with taking incentive for our idle-chat and bring it to the forums, to get other people's opinions?
Well, that got that out of the way.

Thanks again for your input. My friends and I agree with you, thinking that we should stick entirely to the love triangle.

It's a good Idea. Or what do you say to countinue the Saga of Azeroth? The developer has left the creation of this campaign, but we shoud try to collect the oders, who worked on it. Download the first chapter : Coming of the Horde, play it thruth, and say something... Hmmm? I must ask other people before we begin to create the campaign...
