Ok i HAVE searched it i HAVE looked for it... But i cant find where you put them in at i know how to import it and its a .tga but.... where do you make it so instead of the map preview it shows the custom pic? |

You're just overwriting a file which is normally made by the map when you save it in the WE, which is called war3MapPreview.tga and is stored in the root directory. Therefore, to make it show up (if it's 256x256 and 32-bit-depth) all you have to do is import it like that and change the path to just the filename. Sheesh. |

Your alot better off using wc3 map utilities or something like that. Its alot less complaicated for people of your...level. |

hezza.... well anyways.. I have done this.... does it have to be 256x256 or whatever or can it be anything inbetween? because i did this already and the map preview is still the map ..... How you make it 32 bit depth or w/e |

If you're using a program that supports different bit-depths of targa files, it should offer you the opportunity to set the bit depth when you save the file. If it doesn't, it's most likely saving at 24, which willn't work. I think you can do almost any dimensions for the picture, but I believe 256 is the actual image size. 192 is what Blizzard uses, if I remember correctly, and I seem to recall hearing about them working at 128. Of course, the smaller the dimensions, the more the image gets stretched, and you lose quality. |

When you "Save As" the file, it should ask you to choose which bit-depth to save as. |

There are.. Ways.. to obtain such programs anyway, you should ALWAYS! i mean ALWAYS! check to make sure the image is flattened! this is some advice to Panto: (I know i'd never thought id see the day...) FLATTEN IMAGE! it makes it 1 layer! if it is in seperate layers, its wont save as TarGA or work 4 warcraft! |

Actually, I've found that Flatten Image will sometimes dispose of the alpha channel altogether, while Merge Visible will not. Since .psd is one of the few image file formats that *has* layers and Photoshop is one of the few programs that supports using them, to certain extent it goes without saying: if the program doesn't let you save it as a .tga, there must be a reason. But he hasn't indicated that it won't let him save it that way. |

Just FYI, i've successfully used minimap previews as small as 64x64. Usually i use 128x128. |
