Bah, can't open the model on this comp. My experience, though, is that even more than polygons, animations are what make a model bigger. If you have many animations or they are fairly detailed or there are many bones which have to be moved around, that'll greatly enlarge a model. As an example, footmen and peon-class units have significantly larger mdx's than other units due to their extra animations (the defend animations for footmen, and the gold and lumber alternate animations for peons). |

that could be it, its the medivh model and i've changed its anims, but since i dont know how to remove unused animations or how to remove unused bones, i left them there. |

That's almost certainly it, seeing as he has two complete animation sets. Perhaps one of oinker's tools can remove animations and all associated bone movements. I'm not really sure. You *could* do it manually but it would be a nightmare, since the text is associated with each bone, rather than being in one easily deletable place. If you've already put in a lot of work on this, you might be in trouble. If you haven't, I'd suggest switching to a different base model if size is really important (incidentally, 450 kb is large, but only ~200kb larger than most other models. It's not really a killer, imho, and I'm on a 56k). |

meh, i was prepared for that anyway :P its not like Medivh had anything special, he just had the right face, and thats interchangable. Pity about the anims tho. |

whats wrong with the anims? i checked it out, and it seemed fine. the only one that looks funky is the first walk one...with his shoulders all spread apart... OT, i just looked at the concept art for this guy on SotS and considered what it would be like to try this guy. models used, skins, etc. you read my mind man ^^ Pheonix is pshycotic! jk. coo concept, but idk what the problem is with your file size...gl -flames' |
