SImple question... I hope. Can the smoke smudge effect be used on the paladin for example, similar to the Sylvas Windrunner unit/hero? Is that editable in WE or is that a model issue? Thanks in advance for replies. |

EVERYONE should hear this for a good lesson on FUNKY things! ok: making the smudge effect: I will show you how to attach it to the hands, but it works for everything else aswell (See the tourturials for draco's attachment points list) OK: start of going into WE and opening the spell editor Make a new custom spell based off the unit spell: "Sphere" (This spell is actually those balls that float around the blood Mage's head, and i like it because it has an invisible and undetectable icon now youll see a small spell screen, pretty standard. for now what you need to do is go to the Missle art section. not this section is handy for giving hero's and units difrent missles when they get dif weapons etc (See below) Buth this is unnececary right now. Change this to NONE. change "missle arch" to 0.00 aswell. now youll see "target art" and that has sphere in it. Double click on this. Now it gets fun. Choose the effect you want. for this, go into doodads and select smoke or Smudge (Whetever its called) and hit OK. (for a really impressive flaming fists effect, select red drake missle and attach to hands now underneath this is the "target attachments" double click on the first one of theese. It should come up with a string selection screen with the strings: sprite, first Delete both of theese. replace them with theese: hand left go down to the second one and do the same thing (Replace "left" with "right") delete the other 2 or 3 that are there. YAY! Now give this unit ability to ur hero under unit abilities! go into the game and admire your handywork!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In my new map, ive used this method for some more.. "interesting" methods. I have gotten some weapon models (just the weapons) and vertexed all heros and unit in my map to have no weapons. I have then attached various weapons to other units!!!!!!!!!! through this i have made upgrades that replaces grunt's axes with swords and axes with blademaster blades etc. As for heros, they can only carry one weapon! when they get a difrent "weapon", it actually is in their hands! its pretty good really..... Say, if you think this'd be any good in a tourturial tell me.. i just might write one.. anyway.. Keep mappin! Enjour your now slightly satanic paladin! -Garith |
