Having a lot of trouble getting this damn wraith to possess a unit with a knife model in my movie. She doesnt actually have to posses the sword, just look like she did. Any suggestions?

There are fields in the object editor that controls where projectiles actually hit a unit. Its called "impact location" or something like that. There's a X, Y and Z offset. Since you can't have your unit ALWAYS look like it's getting pounding in the knuckles, you could create an invisible unit on top of the unit holding the sword that has the impact location set to the position of the knife (the invisible unit would probably be a flying unit with no model).

As for making a wraith look like she's possessing the sword, just get her to cast possess on the dummy invisible unit.

That's how I would do it, good luck.

the only problem with that is movment delay, trigger problems, getting the exact height every time and making the animations for both units fit....

other than that, you might want to have a look at target attachment points.

just make the wraith disapear and have an invisible unit placed where she stood. the trigger a buff on the target unit with the target (Target attachment "weapon") of posession. make this udd occour facinf angle of "target" from "invisible unit"

Im really not sure how well this would work, but it would give an exelent result of posession Right on the centre of the sword.... ask a triggeer to help you if you cant work it out.

Yea I thought of just attaching a sfx to the weapon, but there's no actual transition. The possession effect just appears on the sword. You can't have an effect that flies straight to the sword without messing with impact locations.

You guys are talking way more advanced than I can understand. I think I wrote the question wrong. There isnt a unit holding a knife, its just a plain knife on the ground. All I need is for the ghost to posses the unit, or look like she did. I try to use the Unit - Order Ghost of Sarah (movie) 0316 <gen> to Undead Banshee - Possession Knife (vulnerable) 0057 <gen>. But she just sits there. Maybe its because she is a wraith and not a banshee?

uhh oh. Yiou can't possess an item so you could just create an invisible dummy unit on the knife and order her to possess it. Make sure she has the mana and ability though.

wouldnt it be a million times easier to actually have her possess it?
Just temporarily make a unit with the knife model, for neutral passive say, and order her to possess it?

Thats exactly what I did. I made a unit with the knife model, gave her plenty of mana and the ability. Told her to posess it. Nuthin.

WEll she has to treat the owner of the knife as an enemy. You can't possess friendly units.

I ran some more tests. One time I made her hostile by accident in the movie and my units attacked her, she then possessed the knife at low health. So she can possess it fine....she just doesnt want to -.-

Ahhhhhh..
ok. easier way to do this:
Make the wraith invincible for the duration of the movie.
Make her posess the knife
Make the knife have invincibility aswell.
Done.

Its just invincibility.
If you dont like the hostile color, just make the trigger order, change team color..
it dosent seem too dificult...
