Mysterious Self-Reviving Threads?

Recently i've noticed alot of threads appear to be coming back onto my user CP and New Posts list, when i check them i discover the last post was some months (and in one case, years) ago, yet the site seems certain they are new? Whats going on. The only thing i can think of is somone posting in said thread, then deleting their post.

One of the reasons it could be is that the thread is a poll and that someone voted something in the poll.

no, their not polls. I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this.
